icouldbeanyone
Thoughts? Probably move Columbia up and Mo West down. I'm I the only one that thinks Heritage is better than Mo West? 1. Science Hill 2. Blackman 3. Riverdale 4. Mt. Juliet 5. Morristown West 6. Columbia 7. Ridgeway 8. Oakland 9. Cumberland County -(tie) Heritage
UCSportsFan
Columbia should be ahead of Riverdale as they have beaten them head to head
coachh17
Congratulations to the Lady Toppers. I hope that you win the gold ball this year.
WarriorFan
Science Hill is #1???? Really???? I have to ask....who did they play? I have looked at their schedule, and it is not a tough schedule comparative to Riverdale and Blackman. Yes....Science Hill is sitting undefeated at the moment, but you can throw records out when the teams get on the court. Even their out of state tourney teams....the best record those teams had was 6-4 at this point in Villa Maria Academy (PA). The other two teams they played had losing records. We will see how this holds up come tournament time. Edited January 8, 2014 by Brandon100
Tenntwin
Great to see Cumberland County in the top 10 - top 2 scorers are a Freshman and Sophomore, only one senior - very loaded in Freshmen and Sophomore classes with a lot of successful National AAU experience - probably a year away in making it to the glass house. Go Lady Jets.
WarriorFan
Columbia should be ahead of Riverdale as they have beaten them head to head Interesting reasoning.....then if Columbia beat Riverdale and should be ahead of them....then Mt Juliet (who Riverdale beat by 17, but Mt Juliet beat Columbia by 16) and Shelbyville (who Riverdale beat by 19, but Shelbyville beat Columbia by 9) should be ahead of Columbia. Since Riverdale blew both of those teams out.....that places Riverdale back ahead of Columbia.....sorry. The difference between Riverdale being 16-0 instead of 13-3 is by a combined difference of just 11 points TOTAL in three games. Two of those losses came from two top 10 nationally ranked opponents in Long Beach Poly (CA) and Homewood-Flossmore (IL) Edited January 8, 2014 by Brandon100

Basketball is all about match ups and it looks like Columbia match's up well against Riverdale. These two are in the same region are they not? MJHO
Day in and day out Riverdale is better than Columbia but Columbia has 2 really good players in Timmons and Gilbert that can play with anybody in the state. Polls can't be based strictly on head to head match ups. They have to look at the entire body of work. Just like in this case, Columbia beat Riverdale, Riverdale beat MJ and Shelbyville but both of them beat Columbia. Anybody that watches girls basketball in Tennessee on a regular basis knows that Riverdale is better than almost everybody on most days. But they better bring their A-game every night because the gap is considerably closer this year than in the past couple. You cant afford to have that "off night' when March gets here. I think that there are actully about 6 teams in the state that could win the gold ball this year. Riverdale, SH, Blackman, MJ, Columbia and Ridgeway. Have an off night against any of these teams and you'll get pounded!!

Have an off night against any of these teams and you'll get pounded!! You're exactly right! All the above mentioned teams can beat the other one on any given night. Riverdale has the proverbial "bullseye" on their back because of their success. They are going to get everyone's best game and if they don't come to play against another quality team they can get beat. Watching our Jackson County girls for years i have seen this same thing. It doesn't matter if its the last place team in your district you are going to get their very best because you are the team they want to beat more than any other. This Friday will be no different when Clarkrange rolls into Gainesboro for a clash of Class A powers. Riverdale is the favorite when they step on the floor in most cases no doubt about that but like you said the gap has closed. Good luck to all and may the best TEAM win! WarriorFan
Riverdale plays 10-11 players in all games. Very deep bench. Hard to get them in foul trouble. Friendship Christian transfer post Deja Jones coming in to the rotation now after being injured is bringing a new look. Her first three games, her point total is 14...8...14. Not sure of the other stats like rebounds, etc. She did not play at all in the first 13 games.
granddadone
One or two more transfers ought to do it for Riverdale. Another girl who has given her all for her home school can go have a seat with the other scrubs. Winning is all that counts at Riverdale. Just curious how many of those top 10-11 players on Riverdale's team have actually went to school there since they were freshman and how many of those are starters?
