TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION

Recommended Posts

Well being a republican I just can't go along with you demos wanting higher taxes.

One more thought on this.  Not very republican to take money from one segment (city residents who also pay county taxes) and give it to another segment of the population (county schools and not split wih city schools).  Some republicans call this a redistribution.

My attempt at humor. I cound name several good football players who have been dismissed (but I won't).

it did make me laugh, and no need to name names. Yall might have 3 giants in football if the new coach at WB can turn things around. And if he can raise enough money for the program to keep up in the arms race in Blount Co football.

Speaking of tax dollars and spending at schools, how many of you guys (and rw87) think there would really be any blowback (lasting past the start of football season) if the plans for the new baseball field were canceled? The system is gonna spend alot of money for 7-9 students out of each graduating class. And if we were all forced to tell the truth, 9 out of 10 people in murvil don't care anything about baseball anyway. The high school could sign an agreement to allow the players who are willing to play at a nearby school where an agreement has been signed. It might be very embarrassing not to have a team, but wouldn't everyone rather have a new clubhouse for the football team? :popcorneater:

Friday night at 7:30 - Shields Stadium. I know when football is played and where.

I have no idea when baseball is played or where. I thought is was played at MC in the past. I expect excellence in all we do. I expect the facilities to be top notch. We need a baseball field, a new track and a new arena. We need wrestling to get back to where it once was (as a team). We need a Spirit Director for the cheer teams. And we also need a new gym at Sam Houston.

Using this logic, we should cancel basketball (didn't MHS just put in a new floor a few years ago?) and softball too (didn't MHS just open a new field?) since only 5-7 students out of each graduating class participates.  In fact, I guess everything but football should be cancelled.

    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
