jusboro
How do you see 1-A looking this year? Top teams? Contenders for the playoffs? Top players?
PiRaTe._.MiKe
SP will be a playoff contender. They might not go in with a very good record based on strength of schedule, but do a little damage. Not as "explosive" as years past but has some athletes and want to succeed. orngnblk
Greenback will battle Coalfield and Cloudland as the team to meet SP in playoffs, but we have very low numbers 27 right now.We beat 5A Karns last week in a scrimmage but they are not a good ball team.GBs first 11 can play with most anyone with the exception of maybe one or two reserves that can play that is it.No line depth at all, backfield returns everyone from last yr.Recievers arent as good as last but are very adequate. As with SP our record may also be tarnished for the fact of a tough schedule. FridayMainEvent
South Pittsburg, Coalfield, Greenback, Union City, Nashville Christian, Dresden, Wayne County, Gordonsville, Columbia Academy, Fayetteville City, Cloudland, Humboldt, Moore County and Jo Byrns are the most hyped teams in no particular order. Expect the Champ to come from those teams. I'd say South Pitt, Union City, Nashville Christian, and Coalfield or Cloudland would be the favored teams to reach the semi-finals. We'll break down the whole class Tuesday on The Ticket Radio at 10 AM and 4 PM.
TheAmbassador
Union City and Nashville Christian are the best teams in the west. South Pittsburg, Coalfield, Greenback will be the best the east has to offer.
FridayMainEvent
Coach Pitman has done a good job with Cloudland. If they can get by their old Coach, Mike Lunsford at Hampton and win that district, a number one seed will go along way in the playoffs. THE KING
Cloudland fields a veteran team this year. The skill players have a lot of speed. I don't know how we matchup against coalfield, sp, or greenback but we should be a contender in the east. Most teams on our schedule will be better this year so it will be very hard to match that 9-1 season from a year ago Edited August 16, 2014 by THE KING
wildcatalumni
It was just a scrimmage and NCS' big RB only played D, but WC beat them 21-7. WC's #1 RB/LB was out as well and will be for 5-6 weeks. It was a good measuring stick for WC, and I believe that both will make serious contenders this year. Waker
I gotta put Huntingdon in the mix. Yes, I'm a homer, but those boys are looking tough again this year!
