William Blount vs. Hardin Valley

When it comes to talking football, you are as lost as a ball in high weeds.....You literally have no clue. I believe on the other thread you said, "WB has been right there knocking on the door since 2008", so in your opinion 15 wins in 6 years is "knocking on the door"?

We have had alot of close losses against quality teams. When you are 3 points short of beating a 5A team that made the semis, down by only 7 in the 4th quarter against a team that went to the 6A quarter finals, and lost by only point against a team that was 9-1 and won a playoff game you were not far off from being a contender. I have seen these scenarios and so many more since we were last a winning team in 2007. If you have been to as many WB games as I have you would know exactly what I'm talking about. If we had been getting blown out all these years like Heritage I would agree with you. But I have seen WB stand toe to Toe with some of the best teams in this part of the state and come up just short way too many times. My point is we can win alot of those games if we stop shooting ourselves in the foot. If you are going to lose a game don't give it away, make the other team beat you. Don't help them out... The teams we play are tough enough when you aren't mailing them the game..

Everything you think about your team leads me to think they are or at least close to being a quality in your opinion. They beat Heritage by 1 point last year. So to answer your question in your strange logic I would say that Heritage lost a close game to a team right above them in the pecking order last year.

They beat Heritage 7-0 actually. And we were in a major offensive slump during that part of the season.i'm talking about how we were only down 7 in the 4th qtr against a sevier county team that went to the Qtr finals in '11 and we lost 14-12 against a west team that went to the semis in '10. And so many more games!!! Every single year there have been multiple games like that where we were in the game with quality teams with a chance to win at the end but turnovers, bad play calls, and stupid penalties have killed us. All i'm saying is we are very close to being a winning team if we quit shooting ourselves in the foot and being our own worst enemies. The facts are right there for anyone who wants to look at the numbers and see how close we have truly been. Another poster wisely pointed out that we were 20 points (give or take a few points) from being a 6-4 or 7-3 team last year. Edited by Governors91

I'm sure those teams you mentioned would claim they were in an offensive slump too. Goes both ways.

True. And I might buy that if we haven't been in so many close games with good teams over the past 7 years. You might be able to make that argument sometimes but not for all of those games. Heritage has mostly kept it close because they have had us beat in coaching the past 2 years.. If you take away Hammontree those games aren't even remotely close. We have been in close games with good teams and we have had bad coaches. Just imagine what we could do if we haven't had the coaching issues we have had. I just hope the coaches we have can figure out where we keep going wrong and fix those issues.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
