#14 DeLong (UT DeLong's) at 6-1 225  is all over the place. Looks like the rest of his family.  Two QB's will play,  #16 Evan White and # 8 Skylar Hammett. A  former QB # 10 Cameron Jones, is now their best running back. #7 Taylor Blaine is a wide receiver and their best safety, also #12 Matt Marlow is a pretty good receiver. This is a team that is coming together. Maryville Rebels need to be ready and not start looking beyond. 

Everybody for MURVUL back Friday except maybe #77 Whitlow. Not much in the way of a scouting report other than since 5 of their staff played under Quarles they know what we are going to do as good as any other team. Stopping MURVUL is the problem. Big strong offensive line and defensive line will dominate Bearden. Their defense is very basic and look for GQ to take advantage of their basic 4-3 cover 2 with some passes into the seems between corners and safeties. Running game should produce some big numbers, but their all everything linebacker #14 DeLong can play with the best. He will get weary though as the game goes on and our offensive lineman continually lean on him.  He is a very good player and could play #1 linebacker on any team. Look for defense to be dominant again as they were against William Blount. Passing game may get a spike as Kelby Brock needs to get some quality reps as a receiver just to keep the passing game and him sharp. Depth against Maryville is alway an issue and the same goes for Bearden. Look for a good fight early and then tail off. MURVUL 45 - Bearden 14

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
