I should remove my previous post because I have now seen TCA, JCS and Riverside play multiple times.  Riverside simply does not have the athletes to compete with Middleton even without Deja. TCA and JCS are average at best.  I think Middleton wins by 12 at home on Jan 30th and gets a first round by in the district tournament..  Where are the district semis and finals being played this year?

Bullshark--I believe the district tournament semis and finals are at Adamsville this year and the Regional semis and finals are at TCA.

I will agree that Middleton definitely has the edge in athleticism, but Riverside has an experienced team that play together well as a team (most of the starters have been playing together since junior high).  They are aggressive and physical and are the type of team that can give Middleton a real challenge.  Don't be surprised if Riverside pulls off the upset on Middleton's home floor.  As usual, when two good teams play the outcome usually depends on who brings their "A" game and how the "break"s of the game go.  Certainly Middleton is favored to win, but I'll go out on a limb and predict Riverside wins by 4 (55 to 51).  Should be a good game.

Cope,

It all depends on how they call the game.  If they let them bang around and hit each other and don't pay attention to what happens off the ball, I think Riverside has a chance.  I have seen Riverside several times this year and they push the envelope when it comes to physicality (especially off the ball).  If the refs let them play, they have a chance.  If they don't, the best player on Riverside will be in foul trouble early and Middleton will win big.

Just don't think Riverside is athletic enough! They are physical for sure and play well together as a team, but overall are slow. They are definitely well coached. She knows how to get the best out of her girls. But Middleton wins 15A with zero losses in district play and wins the district tourney!

Middleton wins 51 to 37.  Looks like I over estimated Riverside with my prediction.  The only thing I got right in my prediction (Riverside wins 55 to 51) was Middleton's score (51) while Riverside fell 18 points short.    It appears Middleton is adjusting pretty good without Faulkner.

I did not get a chance to see the game.  Can anybody out there that saw the game provide some feedback on the game?

Bullshark--Your earlier prediction that Middleton wins by 12 was pretty much dead on.

The refs called a good game at Middleton. Riverside's #24 & #42 were in foul trouble as well as Middleton's #44, #20 & #52 (all three post players). Riverside was not allowed to be as physical as they were in the first meeting. Middleton's guards stepped up especially #30.

Thanks for the update, bballfan. I have really seen some games get out of control with no fouls being called on either side. That game was too big and the teams too good to let that happen. Glad they called an even close game.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
