You're a Central fan, so of course you want Kirk to stay at Alcoa, as would most of Alcoa's competition. If Alcoa lands a solid coach, they'll be dangerous, so the competition wants Alcoa to stay down. Tony Jones might not have been the best hire, but the Kirk hire was worse.

Raul Placeres would have been a much better hire than Tony Jones, and according to another poster, that's the direction they were going to go before Tony Jones. Will they go that direction again?

Have I missed the boat or something?  What is the connection between Alcoa and Central?  I don't think the two have any connection.

P.F. coach has resigned. Seems family still lives in Ga. and commute has made it difficult.

Turned over a few rocks and found out Alcoa boys Coach will return with full administrative support.

With Coach Kirk's family in school administration, that is totally understandable. He lost his best player and had a young team. I'm not quite sure why everybody was ready to throw him under the bus. The questionable hire in that whole scenario was the hiring of Tony Jones. He also was in a pretty tough district matched up with CAK and Catholic. Both those teams were fairly young too so I don't see Alcoa finishing better than third again.

PF is Pigeon Forge.

Agree Hardin Valley hasn't performed at the level I thought they should. IF that job comes up I look for a Coach With in knox county schools make a move from a difficult situation and go all out for that job. Just needs to keep in mind that beating up on single A schools won't help build the program. Maybe up tempo can enlighten us.

Red there are inferences all over your statement with a "lil" bit of hostility! Any particulars you want to enlighten us on? What connection does up tempo have in all this? Did not know HVA was on the chopping block?

Just to clarify:

I have no clue who this ScottR guy is. I haven't posted much on here in response to his rumors about Alcoa because:

That stuff is WAY over my head, and I don't want to get in the middle of all that. Far as I know, Kirk will be back like redandblack63 said, and I currently don't have any reason to think otherwise.

Go Alcoa, Amen!!

    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
