Alcoa is on spring break right now, as are many schools. But I've heard that a coaching change is imminent at this point. I would expect an announcement soon after school starts back up in the next week or two.

In truth, Alcoa had to do it. This is not a reflection on Kirk as a person, but it can't be ignored that Alcoa has regressed since he took over. The Alcoa job is a big deal, so I'm sure several solid coaching candidates will apply for it. I'm interested to see what direction they choose to go next.

Will they pursue Raul Placeres like another poster mentioned? Or will they look for a current successful high school coach? :popcorneater:

Scottr77. Find it interesting that u joined 4 wks ago and you only post on this board about coach at Alcoa getting fired. You wouldn't be or related to a local coach who has been rumored to be lobbying for the Alcoa job even though it is not open. Just curious. Tony Jones screwed up Alcoas program and current coach is trying to fix it.

Anyway Alcoa job will not be open this year as for the most part folks that need to be happy with coach are.

You're a Central fan, so of course you want Kirk to stay at Alcoa, as would most of Alcoa's competition. If Alcoa lands a solid coach, they'll be dangerous, so the competition wants Alcoa to stay down. Tony Jones might not have been the best hire, but the Kirk hire was worse.

Raul Placeres would have been a much better hire than Tony Jones, and according to another poster, that's the direction they were going to go before Tony Jones. Will they go that direction again?

All is quite on the coaching front around knoxville. Doesn't appear anyone has made a move yet.

Rumor has it next week will bring some news About one coaching position in knoxville opening up. All though it will not be a surprise.

Which school is that? So many names have been thrown around

Hearing from a very reliable source that Haywood may open up. Apparently, they dont wanna fork over the money to keep Dancy there. Kinda knew this would come since they just used a good amount to get Hoofkin down there. Basketball will always be 2nd to football in Brownsville.
