Region 1A: Thoughts?

Playing at home is a huge advantage for Hampton. We went to meigs last year and I have never been in a atmosphere of high school basketball like that before. Standing room only in a gym almost as big as Hal Hernard in Greeneville. Meigs Co fans started in gym at 3:00 o'clock (after being in line a couple hours) for a 6:00 tip off. Students section would put Grainger Co. to shame. They where nice enough to reserve us a section for maybe 100 people. We put 2 coach buses of fans and all those that drove into it. Once game started fans stood and never sit down.......the whole game. Our players seem to be overwhelmed. Got down 17 to 2. Seemed to be over. Then Daniel Lowery run down Levi Woods in open floor and slapped a lay up attempt off block wall that landed at half court. Here come THE REBELS. Came down to a shot that hit front of rim, clock hit zero, bounce up, came down and rolled off front off rim. We lose by 2. Do believe it would be a bigger disadvantage for Hampton to hit the road then it would be for the Rebels. Hope to beat Hampton to play first ever boys home sub state game. That's what we are playing for. Good luck to both teams after championship game.

Proud of you're guys last night, Cosby wasn't a slouch. Took a ton of heart and determination to pull it out. Our bunch will have to come with their game faces on,I'm fairly sure they will.As you said ,good luck to the Rebels after tomorrow night.

It sure gets the heart a pumping!

After watching the 1st half of last night's game, I would have been shocked had SG NOT won.

Cosby seemed one dimensional (3 pt shot) and didn't seem to care about rebounding.

I expect SG to be scrapping Monday night, but I feel sure the DOGS will be ready.

Well it's not like Grace has never seen us play, and Meigs was at the state tourney last year. But as long as Hampton comes ready to play tomorrow. I don't really expect South Greene to resort to the same type of play-call that North did, they have a better team. I just want Hampton to come out and PLAY like they WANT it.

I've heard the official capacity is 1600, but we've shoe-horned 2500 or more in there in the past. Hampton people love their school, and sub-state games bring them out in droves.

Can't wait, hope there is room for a few Meigs fans , should be a great game, from all I have heard Hampton and Meigs style of play are really similar. Good luck to both squads! GO TIGERS!!

How big is Hamptons gym? I hear that they really pack the place, and I know Meigs travels REALLY well, I hope it's big!!

I have never seen a sub-state game that wasn't standing room only. Dawgfan88 is correct in with standing room only probably around 2500 people. I have seen it where all the steps, stage, corners of floor are filled LOL.  One of the loudest gyms you will ever experience. I said this in another thread jokingly but Mastercard should create a commercial that states..."watching a sub-state game in Vanhuss/White Gymnasium...... priceless....

You need to be in line at least 1 hour before tip off to get a seat. That gym gets packed quick. Lots of seats, but a lot of Carter Co folks and surrounding counties will fill it up. Take the advice, be there 1:15 before tip.

Go DAWGS!!!!!

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
