Best "A" district settled! Clearly 7A

Still not going to say that 15A was the best district top to bottom...Scotts Hill, Madison, and Adamsville were way off their normal competitiveness, and even TCA was weaker than usual.

After sending two to the final eight, and bringing the gold ball back, it's really hard not to say that the top of 15A was the best of the best though.

You could say that but I would almost guarantee that if Middleton played Clarkrange, Jackson County, and Pickett County 2 times a piece that there is no way they go into the state tournament with an unblemished record. Those are probably 3 of the hardest places in Tennessee to play at. Edited by swanson71

HOWS THAT CROW TASTE UC. The great 7A...whatever maybe next year. Maybe York has some speed you can steal this summer. When Lamar stops crying. Congrats Middleton. Maybe Lamar needs to request to play a team whos mascot is not a TIGER. #2YEARSINAROW

Your team got boat raced pukeboy, so if i was you i would keep my mouth shut.  Now the Middleton people can ask me that question and i will gladly answer it but not you.

15A had the best team in the state this year and may have had the best district not sure on that.  I don't think this year was a banner year for 7A.  You had 3 good teams and 2 bad ones so it was one of our weaker years.

Hang that "semi finalist" banner on your wall baby boy and take it back to east tn.  Maybe one day you'll take some hardware back but i don't think it will be in this lifetime. :popcorneater:

Good try, but no way I'm getting back into a debate about what if this, and if they that...nobody said anything about anybody's record, just plenty of speculation about who would win the gold ball and why, and the kids settled that without our input. This particular thread was "best district", and I just stated that I couldn't argue 15A's case, even after one of the teams just won it all...sheesh, just let it go.

UC I hoped you finally give West TN basketball a little respect. Basketball is played west of the TN River. Single A top to bottom is tough. GC is a good team as well. We beat two double AA teams in Westview and beat Craigmont and numerous good A teams. Sometimes as you have seen you don't play well and you get knocked out. 7 A is no doubt the top district, but I think you may have learned something this weekend.

No doubt there are some very good teams out there and just as important i'm seeing some great coaching.  I gained a lot of respect for Middleton's coach i thought he did an excellent job the entire tournament.  I will be going to the boys state championships next week, you going to be there?

I doubt I go to the boys. My neice has a middle school travel tournament in Gleason next weekend. Very good girls tournament. Oliver Springs, South Green, Clarkrange and Pickett County all have my respect. As well as Jackson County. Very good teams in your neck of the woods. West TN will be tough next hear as well. Middleton and GC I know will be tough.

You're right this is a thread about the best district so aren't you suppose to argue or discuss the best district? I'm not saying that Middleton would have not won state this year had they been in 7a because that would be a ridiculous statement especially after beating Clarkrange, I just said they would not have came away with an unblemished record. District aside if they played in the Upper Cumberland against its best teams it would be very hard to come out undefeated. The last 2 years west TN has sent 2 undefeated teams to the state tournament and won tough games. Those tough games, it seems, are weekly in the Upper Cumberland. Normally you see 2 teams out of 7a and 8aa in the state tournament with all of those teams playing each other every year, girls basketball is extremley fun to watch in this area. That is why the last 2 7a teams who did win it lost a combined 12 games.

Look..."my" team is in 15A, and I can't remember us ever fielding a more lackluster team...if you look back, you'll see that I've never said (or even implied) anything other than top to bottom, 15A isn't as strong as usual...put the best team in state in our (below our usual)  district and BINGO...undefeated regular season !!! Why are you being so confrontational about their record, when it hasn't even been alluded to that they would have gone undefeated in 7A? Does that even matter after they beat the best two teams in 7A en route to the gold ball? I really don't even get the point of all this...I'm out.

Not trying to be "chippy" with you...when I see your moniker, I know that I can most always take your point of view as very logical...but boy, you've got me shaking my head on this one.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
