Congrats to all those who went to the NHSCA!  It was nice to see a ton of kids repping Tennessee.  We still have a long way to go, but getting up there and competing is a huge step in the right direction.

If you are interested, here are some numbers and stats.  If I missed something, let me know.

There were only 5 All-Americans out of 81 TN wrestlers and by my count 18 of the 81 wrestlers that competed had a winning record.  They are as follows:

Sr 126    CHRIS DEBIEN - Cleveland High School 5-0 (1st)

So 285   SAMMY EVANS - Alcoa 4-1 (3rd)

So 113   GAVIN HUTCHENS - Pigeon Forge 8-3 (6th)

So 285   NICHOLAS BOYKIN – Riverdale 5-2 (7th)

Jr 195     BENJAMIN STACEY - Father Ryan 4-3 (8th)

So 106   TJ HICKS – Bradley 5-2

Jr 138     MICHAEL MURPHY - Baylor School 4-2

So 106   CHRISTIAN SIMPSON - Father Ryan 4-2

So 113   GABRIEL ELKIN – MBA 4-2

So 120   RYAN MCELHANEY - Bradley Central 4-2

Fr 106    CALVIN MARTIN - William Blount High 3-2

Jr 182     BRETT BROWN - Bradley Central High 3-2

So 126   KNOX FULLER - Bradley Central HS 3-2

So 126   COLTON LANDERS - Cleveland High School 3-2

So 145   MATTHEW SELLS - Blackman High 3-2

So 145   DREW NICHOLSON - Christian Brothers 3-2

Sr 160    MIKE BINNS - WILSON CENTRAL 3-2

Sr 170    MICHAEL LONG - CAK 3-2

Their combined record was 71-35

We had 10 wrestlers that went 2-2

We had 26 wrestlers that went 1-2

We had 27 wrestlers that went 0-2

Congrats to EVERYONE who went up and competed.  Our kids are getting better!!

Congrats again to Chris Debein!!  He wrestled some awesome matches!

Great showing by our wrestlers. DeBien looked incredible. We also had a pretty good showing in the middle school division. The following kids placed:

Brayden Palmer - Beech - 2nd

Garrett Bowers - Cleveland - 4th

Luke Dezember - Lawrence County - 7th

Emory Taylor - Cleveland - 7th

Dillon Pendley - Tennessee - 8th

Jacob Andrews - Beech - 8th

One tough tourney!

Just imagine how tough it was when it was the only game in town! That was before you had Flonationals & USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals. All the top wrestlers competed in the NHSCA Senior Nationals.

Who are the past NHSCA Senior National Champions from Tennessee?

    • You didn't spell Greeneville and Elizabethton correctly in your sentence.  4A has the best teams in Upper East TN.  Carter County All-Stars and Greene County All-Stars is the Superbowl now.
    • Yeah, but if he goes to Science Hill they are guaranteed at least a win over Kingsport and that's basically the NET Superbowl
    • I expect Sevier County might be pretty good, perhaps Mo West as well.     But I don't see either of them getting out of round 2.          The rest of the region gets smoked in round 1.            Except for those once-in-a-blue-moon anomaly years the NET big schools are pretty much the same every season.
    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
