yoadrian
Looks like the guys in Hermitage are trying to send a stern message about recruiting for athletic purposes. The big question is will those who need to get that message get it or turn a blind eye to it and keep straddling that line? According to the letter, the TSSAA asked Bradley to propose penalties, Bradley did, and the TSSAA accepted them with no additional punishment. Is that how it usually works and is usually worded? What I mean is does the TSSAA usually call and say hey it you do this and this that should take care of it but you must at least do this? Or could Bradley have said we are not imposing any sanctions and then the TSSAA would on their own?
mat73557
So the involved student-athlete is ineligible now? Seems a bit harsh?
AllRegion
So the involved student-athlete is ineligible now? Seems a bit harsh? Just for a year. He could always go to another school.
fooseball96
So why does the kid get suspended in this situation
UpperCumberlandMan
Again, if the TSSAA really looked hard.....many many schools do this type thing. Recruit families to move into their school zone or district for athletic reasons under the disquise of better education.
Southtowner
So why does the kid get suspended in this situation As prescribed in the Bylaws for violation of the Recruiting Rule, the student-athlete involved is ruled ineligible to participate in athletics at Bradley Central High School during the 2015-2016 school year. Knoxvul
I am a little confused here. It appears you started the thread shortly after joining by asking if anyone had heard this rumor. Later, you stated it was official and listed penalties. There has been nothing in the media about it as far as I know. It almost appears that you already knew of the possible infraction and the penalties (which I don't think are entirely accurate as to the reason for the penalties and the exact penalties themselves) and were using this forum to spread the word. Hopefully that is not the case. Looks like old Bearman was right....he wasn't quite accurate on all the issues but it seems as if it was a little worse than YOU might have thought. Littlegeneral
Looks like old Bearman was right....he wasn't quite accurate on all the issues but it seems as if it was a little worse than YOU might have thought. That wasn't the point I was making. I heard of the issues. The rumors being floated here were that the Bradley Coach had direct contact with a Cleveland kid which I didn't think was accurate and it was stated Bradley was going to get sanctioned with no Spring practice which also is not accurate. My point is that Berrman (not Bearman) had asked a question and then provided an answer making it appear that he already knew the answer to the question when he posted. Looked like someone stirring the pot to me.
Berrman417
Not exactly Little General. I kept hearing Bradley was in deep doo doo, I didn't know how deep or exactly what they did. On Friday, I was told about the probable sanctions, which were fairly accurate in the end. Instead of "no spring practice" I should have said "limited spring practice". I shouldn't have used the word "official". And I didn't know about the $1000 fine until yesterday. But whatever. It is what it is.
