Lol!!!! Well that's what they basically saying.

I haven't seen anything about Halls,LC,Humboldt,Union City winning the stste. But all the teams will be very tough. From top to bottom, will be probably the toughest ever. And South Fulton would have been and still could be a key player but losing the Jones kid to Union city will hurt I'm sure. But had Union city have gotten the player that was rumored or I thought it could have been, then I would have picked Union City as the favorite or one of the top 1 or 2 to bring home the Gold ball.

I'm an outsider from your district but have seen all of the top 4 play. I saw them last year and at camps. My pick for the district is Halls, Lake County, UC and Humboldt. Refer back to this post next February! I think Halls has the most athletic team of all the above. It just depends on how they come together as a team. LC is very athletic as well.

TCAIntense, Humboldt only lost one (1) player from last year young team & the coach has had a full year to work with them. People pick Humboldt to finish sixth last year after losing Bradford & six (6) seniors but they were District/Regional runner up. Humboldt beat Halls & LC every game last year and from what I've heard they have a 6'5 post player who's the son of the new girls coach. So, it will be interesting how Coach Abernathy has the Vikings playing this year with so many players returning, tough defense and unselfish play will be the Vikings strength!

Hey Viking,

First of all, I have the utmost respect for Coach Abernathy. We go to church together and I have coached against him when he was at St Mary's MS. Great coach and even better man. Humboldt struck Gold with him! I do agree that Humboldt will be very good but I'm not completely sold on them. Coach A will definitely have them ready and I hope they do extremely well. They were a bunch of hustling little boys last year and I enjoyed watching them play. I think they lack that killer closing instinct but they may get it as they mature. Hope we don't see you until the Boro in March!

Yes, they were young last year but I think they will develop that killer instinct but they will be much better than last year! I don't know about making it to Murfreesboro but only time will tell!

Humboldt fans: watch out for Anthony Jones. He played middle school ball in Jackson at Northeast. He's gonna be good. Pretty sure he gets minutes early on with the lack of returning starters for the Vikings.

Humboldt only lost two (2) seniors & only one (1) started (Agnew) so Coach Abernathy should have a lot of players returnin,g who got a lot of playing time last year! Yes, Anthony Jones  will be a freshmen this year & I've heard he can play but Coach Abernathy has had a full year to work with these kids and should be getting the football players back after this Friday.

I  thought Humboldt returned a lot this year.

Galilee you are correct, humboldt lost only one (1) starter and two (2) senior players total. Humboldt was very young last year but Coach abernathy did a great job getting the team to sub-state against the Champs, Mitchell tigers. People picked Humboldt to finish fourth or fifth in district last year since they lost seven (7) seniors & Mr. Basketball (Desonta Bradfrod) but Coach Abnertahy is a good coach & I can't wait to see this year's team.

I heard this kid has a chance to be good!  Not sure if that will happen his freshman season.  I hope so!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
