and for the 29,854 time in a row; Boogers kids werent recruited. So, that makes your %100 a bogus number. The reason no public buses drop kids off at ND is because its private. The first 8 years of their schooling at a PUB; a yellow bus came buy the driveway every day; they did not ride that bus because we chose not to put them on that yellow bus. They were hand delivered. We dropped them off at that PUB and there was an admissions office. ND did not recruit us and did not have to recruit us for obvious reasons; the PUBs made that decision for us. We chose to put them in a private school, we pay for it and they still dont ride the yellow bus. They drive themselves. We all know what the T$$AA is made up of, and we know who is getting busted for the violations. Not Pubs......

You have to take them goggles off UCM

if u simply build a private school and recruit kids to attend, it will be mty. Its not zoned for kids to go there. And yes some people will just know about the school and show up.....but they do advertise , recruit, and promote themselves in a ways public schools can't.

Booger would be correct. Parents select their school of choice based on what they feel is best for their children at that time in the circle of life. Might be sports, religion, academics, band, cheerleading, or maybe even the prestige of having the school name on their resume. Successful programs recruit themselves. If the program is successful then you can be assured a quality coaching staff also resides there. We could sit back and point fingers at the staff & school when actually it's the parents who are looking for any and all opportunities to interact with said staff & school. By nature people want to be associated with the "best" perceived situation available at the time. It could be work related, social related, academic, or sports. By nature this will not change.

Regarding the Marshall situation. This was a petty slap on the wrist that never should have happened. Jr. was heading to Marshall regardless of the transportation mode. As an incoming 9th grader who cares how he got there. The decision was made by his parents based on what they considered was the best option & opportunity for their son. It's called being good parents and making choices you deem necessary for the well being of you children. Suspending Jerry was uncalled for. Completely. As far as Giles is concerned there's no "butt hurt". You win with the parents & guys who want to play for their school and community. Jr. will be just fine. So will Giles......

ok agree andd disagree. Parents do decide and good programs draw kids but they still promote(recruit) in ways public schools can't. A Marshall county parent couldn't just drive to Riverdale daily and drop kid off. They could at a private school. And Riverdale got busted for hosting jr high girls to a basketball game before they enrolled, something a private school would not fall under. They can host who they want.

We chose the private school we did for our son based on academics, location, and reputation.  My son was a leading factor in the two state championship rings he has....he was NEVR recruited, we chose the school, we drove him there until he turned 16.

Now, back in the late 80's I was 100% recruit by one of the large co-ed schools in Chattanooga from the local high schools.

This may be the first time we agree and you are right the slap on the wrist punishment shouldn't have never happened . The "butt hurt" part was someone had to notify someone and who would do such a thing? Jeopardy music softly playing

What some of yall don't realize 90% of the time it has to do with the middle school football coaches. I know some personally who sends kids oUT of zone because he wants them to succeed and get away from there friends. I heard him say multiple times when he visits a certain high school he gets tired of seeing his boys not playing anymore and getting caught up in other things. Now everywhere ain't the same especially when you get in the sticks.

In response to the original question in the thread title, you control public school recruiting by levying bogus charges.

If the kid is already enrolled, how is it recruiting.

Do you honestly think this is the first coach to give a ride to a kid that needed it?

By that definition, my high school would've broken the rule when I attended.

My head coach took me to practice some, but nevermind the fact I went to that school all my life, he was my cousin, and lived less than a mile from me.

By their definition, that was a recruiting violation. Good grief.

now as for you UCM; you have gotten off the wagon again and funneling that juice.....best to Boogers memory; have you never been down to the ND campus and its facilities.......and if you have been there; your eye test would tell you that there has to be something else mighty there besides it facilities......the mighty at ND is in the form of mighty daily Prayer, a mighty Pledge of Allegiance, a mighty faculty, a mighty education and a mighty family of Alumni that shows back up every year by the hundreds

If you build it, it will be mighty might be true for ND in those factors mentioned above; but not for facilities and the false impressions you are blinded by.....mighty was established in Chattanooga in 1876; its current campus in 1865 and no stadium facilities until after 74'....our athletic facilities are not the poster child for facilities in the state; PUB or Private....we are land locked and on Friday nights, the fans share a one sided stadium together

ND Chattanooga has been in existance for roughly 139 yrs if Boogers math is correct give or take a few years that they had to shut down....in that time frame it still has only grown to roughly 400 students, its football record is 353-386-20 (less than .500) with only 30 winning seasons since 1943 (72 years)....never been to FB Championship Final, been to the semis 4x and lost all, and only won 4 of the 12 quarter-finals we have seen

you have to get off the ether gas, cause your build it, recruit kids and it will be mighty theory kinda has a foul aroma attached to it
