PlaytheGame150
If Hoover wouldn't have had more penalty yards than Oakland did for complete offense, this one would have been a lot worse. Really shocked to see Hoover that undisciplined. Oakland's defense played well and will have to win some games for the patriots this season. Oakland offense is as bad a 6A offense I've seen. Athletes galore but bottled up to an awful Wing T scheme. Open it up and let those athletes play in space!
TDCman
Oakland's defense played lights out and really played physical. If they had any offense they might have turned this into a real game. Oakland scored. Based on what I had seen in the jamboree and this game I wasn't sure they would score this season. Wasn't Oakland in the I formation on the drive they scored? Both games the Murfreesboro teams got huge assists from the officials. The Hoover QB made some great throws. Reminded my of Stockstill from Siegel. The Oakland safety really laid the wood a few times. He looked really good. Oakland will win some games and be a tough out for anybody...just on the strength of their defense and special teams. Alabama high school football starts later than Tennessee. This was Hoover's first time going against another team since they are not allowed to scrimmage. Also just their 5th day in full pads due to new state mandated policy. Not bad with the short time and restrictions.

With all the new faces they have that explains the lack of polish.

REBELRON
Another thing that hurt Oakland and Blackman were coaching changes. Especially Blackman.
TDCman
Yeah, Blackman seems to have really slipped. Wonder about the coaching there. There was a point in the game where Blackman seemed to be getting some momentum and the coach calls a trick play. Fumble, turnover, and any momentum lost. Was there anyone in the stadium that didn't know something was up when Blackman put two guys back to receive the punt? C-C hadn't been kicking away from the receiver and Blackman hadn't been putting two guys back. C-C could beat just abut anybody so this didn't really matter. Just wonder what the thought process was since the trick play was in no way set up by previous events.
hardtackle
Someone said earlier only team that can match an CC or a Hoover is Maryville or possible a large private school. Not just anyone can get a job in Alabama at the big football schools. Alcoa coach tried and could not get a job. Different mindset and importance placed on success at the bib football schools in Alabama. Most coaches do not even have a hard class load or none at all. No expense is sparred with hiring coaches or facilities. Different animal there.
JustinBuck
Running a Wing-T offense when you have the type of athletes Oakland has should be against the law. Creasy is in over his head. Imagine what Maryville would do to them.

Especially when we were up 37 to nothing early in the game Friday Night.

I'd bet you they'd be willing to play you.
