I'm going to be completely honest. I'm not saying the Toppers would have won but this game would have been very close and there's no doubt in my mind about that had Bedard not been injured. SH moved the ball easily on Maryville in their first drive. They were about to score and cut the score to 10-7 when Bedard went out, and never returned (Rumor is a concussion). Topper defense was playing well and the Topper offense looked very good on that first drive. This would have been a great game if the SH QB had not been knocked out of it.

 

 

As for DB, I'll tell you this, Maryville looks very beatable this year and I think you guys have a great shot against them.

What does that say for the Toppers?

Says that the Toppers starting QB really is extremely important to their success. As is the starting QB for most teams. Defense looked good until the QB went down. That completely took the air out of the entire team.

Are they you're starting QB? Anyone who knows anything about SH football will tell you the entire offense goes as the QB, Bedard, goes. Losing him is the ultimate loss for that team.

 Wow ... I hate that the Young Man Got Hurt . 

It really is shame. It changed everything about the game for the Toppers because the Offense goes as he does. When he went out you could sense the team just kind of quit. Kid was trying to make a great play (Jumping into the end zone) and it cost him. I watched him on the bench after they brought him off the field and he was devastated. I also saw the body language of the team totally change at that moment. 

 

I'm not trying to take anything away from Maryville, I just think this truly would have been a close game if the SH QB doesn't get hurt.

 Just go ahead and claim that IFL victory if it makes you feel any better . Just Curious , did Bedard play Defense also ?? Maryville is substituting pretty freely , and right now I think they could score whatever they wanted to .

When your Offense can't do anything to help you out the Defense is going to get tired very quickly. That's what happened here. SH had 3 and out after 3 and out once Bedard went out of the game.
