The playoffs don't lie..... If you schedule easy wins during the regular season, its going to show in the playoffs. While it stinks that SC was the odd man out, they knew what they had to do last night to get in, and couldnt get the job done. They should feel good about the strides they made this year.

Truth is, sub .500 teams are always going to make the playoffs because the TSSAA wont do what's necessary to prevent it. Its unfortunate for the teams like SC that have a good year and don't make it, but also makes for a great teaching point

So are you saying that a team that didn't finish in the top 4 in their Region should go to the playoffs???

The problem isn't that real good teams are left out...

There is a problem that some bad teams in bad regions do get to go, but that is the way the TSSAA makes the most money, so that is the way it will be.

Tell your boys to work hard for next year & maybe they will crack the top 4 in your Region & get to play in the postseason. I'm not a fan of the recent classification & playoff changes, but one thing that can't be argued is that the path to the playoffs is very clearly defined.

There was one first round pairing (in 3a maybe?) where both teams had losing records.

And how much is 0-10 Antioch going to have to spend to travel to Memphis Whitehaven for the beat-down?  Warren Co. at Maryville?  As if cash-strapped school systems can afford to sink money into a game where their team that doesn't belong in the post-season gets boat-raced by video game or arena league numbers on the other side of the scoreboard.

Warren Co. and Antioch also had a choice. They should have followed LaVergne's lead and opted down. Not like the TSSAA deceived them

Football 51 SC did finish in top 4 of their region technically. They were actually tied for 2nd with Lincoln Co. LaVergne Shelbyville. All 4 teams had identical 4-3 region records. They round robined their wins so no team beat all the others. That is when they went to overall record Shelbyville who Stewart Creek beat benefitted from a non region schedule of Tullahoma (0-10), Lawrence Co(3-7) and Giles Co. (3-7) to go 7-3. Lincoln Co. Did the same thing by beating the above mentioned teams as well. While LaVergne and Stewart's Creek both lost a 4th game to Smyrna, who beat Oakland last night if I heard correctly. So Lincoln and Shelbyville placed above LaVergne and SC because of 7 wins instead of 6. Then LaVergne beat SC head to head so the get 4th spot. It is disappointing the Red Hawks didn't make it but they have off season motivation and a bulk of returning players that can get them over the hump next year I believe.

You heard wrong. Oakland beat Smyrna, 20-7

Creek loses a veteran QB, a WR/DB who signed with APSU, the other leading WR, and a 6-foot-7 TE who has started since day one, a kicker who has started since day one, several big linemen who have started since day one.  With other region 5 schools graduating players, they might make the playoffs next year, but it's not like they didn't have a bunch of veteran senior leaders who paid lots of dues the first two years in 6a against the Oaklands and Blackmans of the world.  They deserved this playoff game, not a bunch of teams with zero or one win.

What is Creek's reward for hanging 49 on Shelbyville at S-ville?  Shelbyville goes to the playoffs for playing a bunch of 4a teams with losing records.  And yes, I did email the list of teams with losing records in the playoffs to the T$$AA because until you see them listed all at once, it doesn't sink in.
