I will say this much in Regards to Oak Ridge. Their Coach has done a FANTASTIC Job with their Schedule. He has really played a competitive Schedule, you have got to respect that, they will be battled tested come tournament time and that is what really counts, Coaches that schedule creampuffs early in the season to get useless wins are NOT doing their teams any favors and it almost always will show up in close games especially against better teams. Hats off to Oak Ridge Coaching Staff. Best of Luck

After half a season of coaching Tyler Harris, Cordova basketball coach Terrance Scales says he's not surprised by anything his star sophomore does.

"(Friday) against Kingsbury, he hit a 65-foot shot," the coach said.

"And he didn't throw it up there, he stepped back and shot it.

"He's going to have a 40- or 50-point game before the season's over.

With 99 percent of the players, they'll take (long) shots and you'll be like 'What are you doing?

"But with Tyler, it's like 'Oh, OK.' "

The 5-9 Harris scored 26 points Saturday, including three long 3-pointers in a decisive third-quarter run as the Wolves defeated Oak Ridge, 72-57, at the ARS Rescue Rooter Penny Hardaway National Hoopfest at Arlington high school.

Harris' 3-pointer with 3:59 to go gave the Wolves (15-3) a 55-50 lead. Two deflections in quick succession by O'Bryan Owens set up easy scores before Harris made two more 3-pointers in transition.

Thirteen points in a minute-and-a-half.

"It was set up by defense," said Scales. "That's what we've hung our hats on since I've been here. Our energy was good all game, but there we took it to great."

Oak Ridge entered the game ranked fourth in Tennessee and is probably the top AAA team in the eastern part of the state. And Cordova was short-handed; 6-8 Murray State signee Jalen Dupree missed the game after being ejected Friday and 6-4 senior Kevion Stewart has been injured all year.

"This was only the second game Blake's been back," said Scales, referring to standout junior guard Blake Williams, who has missed much of the year with off-court issues.

"We just have to learn to play four good quarters. We'll play one or two then stink it up for one."

Rodgerick Brown had 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Wolves, who host district rival Bolton on Tuesday. Tennessee football commitment Tee Higgins scored 20 first-half points for Oak Ridge and ended with 26, along with nine rebounds.

In the feature game of the night, East, ranked No. 1 in the state, defeated Bentonville (Arkansas) and Kentucky commitment Malik Monk 73-65.

Monk scored 29 points but was quiet in the decisive third quarter, thanks to a stellar effort by Courtney Carter.

"Courtney's our junkyard dog, our Tony Allen," said East coach Penny Hardaway. "Everyone except our families came out to see Malik Monk score 60 on us ... but we wanted to wear him down, take away his legs."

Alex Lomax had a terrific all-around game for East (13-1) with 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and seven steals. T.J. Moss, the other half of East's standout sophomore backcourt, also had 20 points.

Earlier in the day, Jalen Crutcher made 4 3-pointers and scored a game-high 21 points as Ridgeway used big second and third quarters to defeat Nashville Christ Presbyterian Academy 63-48.

Fayette-Ware opened the Hoopfest with an impressive 83-58 victory over Nashville White's Creek. Mikkel Norment lead the Wildcats with 29 points, while D.J. Jackson added 27 and 10 boards.

Arlington took nationally ranked Oldsmar Christian (Florida) to the wire before falling 62-60.

The Tigers' Demonte Person hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key to tie it at 60 with 6.7 seconds left. After a timeout, Oldsmar Chjristian hustled the ball down the floor and got the winner on Elijah Weaver's runner with two seconds to go.

Person and Luke Wiseman each had 12 points for the Tigers. South Florida signee Troy Weaver had a game-high 14 for the visitors.

Bolton led Chattanooga Hamilton Heights for much of the second half before falling, 55-50.

Therren Shelton-Szmidt, who led his team with 17 points, hit a 3-pointer with 1:11 to go that gave Hamilton Heights a 49-47 lead that it did not relinquish. UNLV signee Jaylen Fisher had 26 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats.

Houston struggled to get on track against Chicago Whitney Young and lost 62-47. Bruce Guy led the Mustangs with 15 points and seven boards, and Ryan Boyce chipped in with 11.

Memphis can have they own AAA state championship, if you really want to be truthful. Undefeated records don't mean a thing, if the teams you played not over .500, Germantown has lost 1 game and that was to Georgia back 2 back state champs.

The records mean nothing. Some team with 3 losses right now might be playing better than anyone in March when it counts. It really means nothing even if Germantown was ranked 2 right now.

I agree. I think we should just hand the trophy to East, Cordova, or Germantown. To he&& with the rest of the season. Save us all a bunch of time and money. Edited by SweetScience
