Give it to Coach Courtney...She lost a lot of talent off of last year's team, and has still fought back to substate again.  Obviously losing those seniors hurt, but they can still put up points, and also have one of the best players in West TN in La'sha Scott.  They have good perimeter shooters, and are very disciplined on the offensive end.  They throw a lot of different looks on defense as well.  The knocks on them are they're not very deep (7 at most), and not very big (Goff maybe 5'8 and Scott 5'9).

That said, I think Gibson wins by 15...White, Lannom, and Fields are too much, and also factor in the home court advantage as well.

Better or worse than last year isn't the question...Gibson County is (and was last year too) better than Riverside, but last year Riverside played a much more physical game than this year. Riverside isn't bad, just won't give GC problems with their style this time around...and as someone already stated, the Lady Pioneers should have a grudge to settle...lose to Riverside now and there's no excuse.

If GC is going to live up to their potential of a top four or five team with Middleton, Pickett Co., and maybe a couple others in the mix, they should handle the Lady Panthers without much trouble. Riverside had all that they could handle with Scotts Hill (mediocre from youth), and was waxed by Middleton in their last two games...Gibson Co. was very good three years ago but young, last year good enough to compete with the best 1A teams in state but "stumbled" at home in sectionals...the future is now to get over the hump and contend for the gold ball.

I am sure Riverside will play slow slow like last year and hope GC gets in foul trouble and turns the ball over like last year. GC protects the ball and don't get in foul trouble they should be fine. But Riverside will be confident since they were there last year. So you never know. How many times would Dyersburg have beaten South Side probably 1 out of 10. But they beat them in the region this year.
