C'mon man!! 21-14 with Alcoa's 3's driving to score when game was called. 1's 7-7, 2's 7-7 and 3's 7-0. West does look fast, but don't get too excited. Good luck with your season.

So he shouldn't be excited because West is as good as Alcoa? I'd be happy to. Consider it a compliment. Alcoa is the measuring stick for most teams.

To all you West doubters....... West 21 - Alcoa 14 at Alcoa in a scrimmage this evening. West is the real deal! Next up Maryville next Friday.

Some perspective. it was a scrimmage. Alcoa starting QB was out after the 1st series. His back up hit West for two long plays including a 60 yd TD. West couldn't stop the triple I when Alcoa wanted to run it. Alcoa All region RB did not play. West has almost 2.5 times as many students as Alcoa. It was just a situational scrimmage...

Having said that, I do agree that West is a favorite to make it to Cookeville. You guys have playmakers. A couple of guys with legit breakaway speed, several athletes on the field and your DT #78 was a handful. I am basing my thoughts on your probable championship run on your teams ability, athletes and matchup problems for other teams rather than a score in a situational scrimmage.

Well, well, well..... I hear a "contender" got brought back to reality tonight. Hahaha....

Are you referring to the practice held between Knox West & Knox Central last night? I wouldn't put too much stock into a situational practice. I don't think that match-up would be close in a real, live-game scenario.

Independence

Last year I told you the Blade Runner had a special feeling and you didn't believe in them

Sure they lost many on each side of the ball including QB Bunch but this year they have reloaded

Will they be as dominant as last year ? Not a chance but they stand another great chance to play for the Gold Ball

Keep an eye on them and the new transfer from Louisville should run for 2,000 yds this year

Got some horse RB's in Region 5..... interesting to see how Indy's passing game opens up the run as well as it did last year....

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
