Heritage 2016

Recommended Posts

Yesterday Heritage lost a great fan, supporter, former assistant coach, Principal, VFL member off the 1969 team and one of the best players Blount County has ever had from the old Walland High. We will miss Benny Dalton very badly. RIP

Prayers of comfort to the Dalton family during this time of grief......

Looks like Heritage has switched back to the white helmets this year. I myself like these better than the one's they had last year because gray isn't one of the schools colors.vfa5tz.jpg

It seems gray is the new black. Ten years ago teams started wearing black uniforms even if it wasn't in their school color. Now the trend is gray. I'd like for teams to wear their actual school colors.

Technically neither is white. I believe Heritage calls their colors scarlet and Columbia blue.

If that be the case most schools would fall under that guideline. If we all went to the first game and GQ added another color to our uniforms people would fuss and grumble about breaking tradition. I'm sure with a team overall winning percentage of 32% over the lifetime record out at Heritage they might have went to gray last year to make sure there wasn't some kind of jink on the team.

    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
    • A huge addition to the staff today! Former Hardin Valley legend and Richmond College running back Aaron Dykes was announced as the running backs coach. Rushed for over 3,000 yards at HVA, with 35 total touchdowns. I loved watching in Hardin Valley. I can’t believe he’s at Bearden now. I know he was trying to get a HVA job, I don’t know what happened there and how he ended up at Bearden, but I'm glad he’s here and believe he will be teaching art class as well! What a good get for the staff!!
    • Thoughts? Gordonsville won it last year with a sophomore pitcher and returned almost everybody. Can anyone beat them?
