Dobyns-Bennett @ Oak Ridge

Tee is still the best player on the team, and the best player on just about every field he steps on! If he played in DB's offense he would have 250 yards a game, and 3 to 5 TD's a game. That is not an insult to Graham, just a fact. Graham is just fast as lightening, but still needs a little more bulk, which he still has a couple more years to get!

Will have to agree to disagree except that Tee goes up for jump balls much better.

.

And WATO has been gone a long time Oak Ridge is without a radio station now.

Hard to believe a techie city like OR doesn't have a radio station! I guess WYSH-Clinton drove them out of business!

Is the OR-DB replay streamed on the Internet? the AC-Greenville replay is on now on the AC school website...

Oak Ridge has a good team and did what they needed to do last night to win the game. With DB having 8 turnovers last night, that will not win you a lot of games. From my opinion Oak Ridge did nothing to contribute to any of the fumbles that DB lost. You take away 2 fumbles inside the 5 yard line and the interception in the endzone on a pass that was under thrown and the muffed punt you have a different ballgame. People can say what they want and pound their chest all day long but the officials had a big part in the outcome of the game in the first half. Im still am not impressed with Higgins and the Graham kid did a lot of damage last night and is probably more important to the team then Higgins is(JMO). Oak Ridge didn't beat DB no more than DB beating themselves, you take away #5 and #22 then you have a very average Oak Ridge team. Like I said that's my opinion and I own it, Good luck to the Wildcats and Indians the rest of the year.

Not impressed with Higgins??? You sir, have lost all credibility... Carry on

You take away DB QB and that big DT and LBs they wouldn't be that good either. Take away TD Blackmon for Maryville their D wouldn't be nearly as dominant. Same thing can be said for most every team in the state. And besides the fumble on the GL and the muffed punt most all of those TOs were forced TOs.

Poor loser just man up and admit you were smoked by the better team :evil:

Smoked by the other team, now that is funny. After all the turnovers and interceptions and all the penalties against the Tribe you win by 13pts. You know beyond a shadow of a doubt if it wasn't for the miscues by DB then this game would have been one to come down to the wire just like in years past. Not a poor loser at all, we didn't play well and still had a chance to win the game in the second half but didn't execute. Just another game that we can learn from our mistakes.

Basically our whole team was cramping in the 2nd half (not sure what is going on there), so I'm just glad we could come out with the win. Our guys had to dig deep to overcome all the cramping, which was most of our stars, including Graham and Tee.

Several things about this game!

First congratulations to the Oak Ridge team and fans! You have a really good team with some excellent athletes! I said 22 was the key earlier in the week but questioned whether he had ever been tested, he answered that question with his speed! He is faster than fast! Tee Higgins is ridiculous, and you don't even have to make a good throw, because he is just going to get up over anyone else to get the ball! 54 was what I thought he was and that is a stud linebacker!

DB lost the game and I except that and nobody likes to lose, but some positives I see on the DB side. The coaches went in at half time and decided to show the kids that they believed in them and let them play in the second half. The Defense has improved as they did a good job other than giving up several big plays and the speed of #22 and the ability to run, jump and catch the football by #5 had something to do with that. DB will see a lot of good teams this year, but I do not believe they will face anyone nearly as fast as 22 or as good of an athlete as 5. DB's offense looked solid, and if they do not lay the ball on the ground so many times, it is a different ballgame. DB had 521 total offense to 345 OR so that shows that DB is not overrated, just made some mistakes that can be fixed! No one wants to blame officiating for a loss, but the poor officiating has to be at least mentioned, as they did try to control the game. Early in the 2nd half 6 kids from OR are laying on the ground at the same time with Cramps, momentum has shifted and OR runs a play and a ref throws a flag and ejects one of the best defensive players in Tennessee for throwing a punch which never happened! That not only effected the second half of the game, but DBs next game as well, not exactly sure of the penalty but it could be two games! The kid is as good of a kid as you will ever meet, and a bad official made a terrible call! The officials did not cost DB the game, but TSSAA needs to review this crew!!!

I think The cats have a a special team and could and should compete for the state championship! I do believe the Indians have a good team and they will win a lot of games this year!

"8" turnovers and "11" penalties. Sorry to hurt everyone's feelings but that's a result of terrible coaching.  And no, the defense has not improved.

He had one awesome catch over the middle and one catch on a slant he made good yardage on but other then that I didn't see much more then that. He is not being used like he should be by the OR coaching staff. Has two OR fans that sit behind us and said the same thing and they were pretty upset at how the OR coach was pooch kicking on all kickoffs. Like I said it was my opinion, no doubt he could be a more special player if he was used right.

He could be used more, I'll agree with that. But why use him when Graham was getting 15+ yards per carry? No use in risking getting an INT when Graham was pretty much doing what he wanted to. Coach was content with just running the ball. The reason for the pooch kicking is obvious. Our kicker does not have a strong leg, so why risk kicking it to DB and their guy getting the ball at at least the 10 yard line and having a chance to run it back all the way? Pooch it up and they get the ball at the 35 yard line every time. A no brainer. Our staff isn't as dumb as some people make them out to be. My opinion is if they can do better then put in an application to be an assistant. Armchair coaches always know best.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
