The Pearl-Cohn Football Family will be playing with an extra bit of motivation on Friday night. Today was the funeral for former two-time All-State linebacker Howard Griffin. His performance 9 years ago in the Second Round & Quarterfinal Round of the 2007 State Playoffs in the Firebirds wins at Station Camp & at White House weree a couple of the most impressive that I've ever seen from a linebacker at the high school level.

It was a nice funeral and it was packed with current players, old players and coaches his TTU and Navy friends. Long live howard. Edited by FBfan26

No no no my feathered friend, we had a bet a few years back and I've let you slide...I'll get the burgers and you'll get the drinks

We already established that bet didn't happen! The people on Coach T confirm that last year. But if both teams would happen to make it, Liberty would play Friday and PC would play Saturday. Edited by FIREBIRD80

This was a very good read from your side and he made some valid points. People always talk about offense but this time of year defense wins games. He predicted the score to the 30-29 which I kind of took offense to it because our defense has been playing lights out all year but when you have a offense scoring 40 points a game I can understand. Outside of MBA Macon county "2x" LT and SF is the ONLY teams that that scored 2 TDS on us all year. Most of the time the second score comes with backups in. Good luck to Springfield bout PC defense let's get it done! We must and will protect our house!! #Rip#3 we Coming! Edited by FBfan26

Tough match for the Jackets but glad to be still playing. For Springfield to move they will have to bring their A game and hope that P-C doesn't and have some breaks go our way. The better team doesn't always win , you just have to better on this one night. Two 4A powerhouses have been sent home early in upsets , so anything can happen that's why you play the game.

    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
    • Heard Seq has gotten a lot stronger this off season. Can’t wait to see how the boys do this year
