This 2017 team for Coach Grider's Pirates looks to me that overall it will be a very young team. This group of seniors will be looking to try and help return this team to a state championship game. The last senior class to not participate in at least one state championship game was the class of 2007. It will be an uphill battle with Coalfield looming with such a veteran team. Not to mention Greenback and Gordonsville.

South Pittsburg had an offer to play Waverly at a neutrally located site (one of the Murfreesboro schools) for each of the next two years. They would split the game evenly. That offer was shot down. Maybe they can play Sale Creek twice....
