owlman1967
This is ridiculous that the state of TN is about to go to 9 classifications in a state as small as ours. Watered down competition makes the sport weaker and promotes the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality. My question is what is the TSSAA doing with all the money they are getting? Insurance can't be all the money is going to so what is it. They need to combine classifications like the old days and make it better and have no public/private split. 1A-2A: 1A 3A-4A: 2A 5A and the current D2A schools: 3A 6A and the current D2AA schools: 4A this type of classification would promote really good football in the state and allow for good matchups that would draw big gates. Another thing to is the state title games could all be on the same day instead of the 3 day period they are currently. Also, why exactly is the state game at TTU? It would be better to have the games at a central location to maximize attendance and Vandy or MTSU would allow for this to have crowds of 10K+ like the old days
Spartan4Life
Great points. I love it.
BigEdMo
The publcs won't stand for it. Privates have an advantage. Why just look at this year in the state championship games in D1. You see how the privates monopolized the championship games. Publics never had a chance in the finals.
Indian
The smaller publics had to deal with it the last two decades while the larger schools avoided the MBAs and BAs. There would be a huge outcry by the largest and most influential public schools should there be any kind of effort to merge back totally. zoneread56
Even if there was a huge outcry it would still make for better football around the state than the watered down version today.
Indian
It might but it won't happen. Clearly the largest schools have the pull in Division I when they tried the disastrous Super 32 and had to immediately scrap it.

Throwdeslant
Why do you say the "Super 32" was a disaster? Just curious. It should have been called the "Super 2" , or the "Not So Super 30"! 😂
Indian
Why do you say the "Super 32" was a disaster? Just curious. 1-9, 0-10 playoff qualifiers, spread regions out too far like Bradley Central, affected size of other classes, for starters. cbg
If you look at population numbers Tennessee high school football should have no more than 4 classifications and that is if everyone is together.
