Rankin isn't leaving Alcoa. Nix isn't leaving either. Alcoa is a better job at present moment. The pay is equal and the road to the state titles is much easier.

Never said it would be me making the decision and he will make a fine HC someday, but IMO he's nowhere near as qualified right now as some the other coaches on staff (especially Ellis).

 

Personally, Ellis was a major catalyst in starting this run before GQ even got here and has been a HC and athletic director before. He may not be willing to do it for an extended period of time, but he would make a perfect choice given his credentials and would be an excellent mentor for whoever was chosen to follow him after he's done.
