All Time Maryville Team

Thought this would make for an interesting conversation to have during "talking season." I'm new to the site, but I played on some decent Maryville teams not too long ago and I enjoy keeping up with them as best I can. I'm looking forward to interacting with you all, and more importantly, talking about some Maryville football. What is your all's opinions on who would be starting on the All Time Maryville football team?

Hard to pick all time team because the game and rules changed so much that it is not the same as it was forty years ago. Back then it was more of a defensive game mind set. There would be games that Maryville dominated and only win 21-0  Much easier to pick by the decades to be fair. The best player no doubt was Danny Spradlin hands down. He was a man playing against boy's and still would be. Not only was he the best linebacker but he was the best running back. Ted Wilson limited him in carries many games to keep him from getting injured because every team they played keyed on trying to hurt him anyway possible. The 76 team  may have had the smallest offensive line in the state that year but ran on the shoulders of Spradlin and won the state against Brentwood Academy which was favored 27-0.  Brentwood outweighed Maryville on the line by one hundred pounds per man. Brentwood was also loaded with many SEC prospects that year.

    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
