Not aligning myself with anyone...just answered a question. Now let me tell you the difference. Chandler has over 800 victories, and has had some state caliber teams...early to mid nineties Scotts Hill was top 5 in state consistently, but had the bad luck to lose to the eventual state champs year after year in sub state. One year we weren't competitive, as our center tore her ACL in regionals, but the others were all really, really close, and those teams went on to win state by pretty good margins. Early 2010's we finally get to state twice...arguably our best team ever loses to state champion Wayne Co., as close as Coach Chandler has been to the gold ball. Think everyone in Scotts Hill is ready to run him out of town??? Not a chance. Has Chandler ever had the best team in state? Maybe, maybe not, but several times that I remember he has beaten "better" teams with less talent because of coaching. Two sides of the coin...did he lose too many "big games", or was it great coaching that got them to those games to begin with?

Bottom line is, Coach Chandler may not be the best ever, but he's good enough.

Very well said.

Coach Lott had three teams that were legit state championship teams. His first team was only team to beat Chester Co. (AA champ) and Bolivar (AAA champ). Team had problems over homecoming and half the team quit with one game left in the regular season. Around '92, team would have been top contender, but best player was lost to academics. In 2007, team lost one of best players to a knee injury, and another player missed most of season to a health reason. Lott has bad luck in the post-season.

Bobcats83, if you dislike Lott so much maybe you can go watch the team in red.  The team he has only beaten around 50 times and lost just a few. He does not need your help on his way to 900 victories.

Got to chime in here....show me any other coach in the nation with 800 plus career wins that does Not have a handful of state championships! You can't do it. There is only 1 coach who exists who has that many meaningless wins without the 1 that counts. The "red" team doesn't measure itself against the "blue" team. If the "Blue" team could win state and finish 30-1 with the one loss being to the "red" team, the season would be a failure for the "blue" team. Not so with "red" team. They don't care as much about blue and blue cares about them. Period.

How many 800 win coaches can you name without looking through Google?  Lott would have won a state in 2007 if his star player had not missed most  of the season for health reasons and the third best player was lost to a knee injury. The star player he missed went to win NAIA National Player of the Year.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda...don't count.

I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
