Greenbrier at Springfield

Watched the game on TV.  Looked like both teams had some nerves because of the TV crews with all the muffed punts.

Officiating was terrible.  I admit the Jackets deserved a couple of the unsportsmanlike penalties, but quite a few were total BS, the TV guys even commented.

Greenbrier has a tough squad and will be a tough out in the playoffs.  I think WH and Greenbrier are pretty evenly matched, and it should be a barn burner next week!

The Jackets seem to be hitting their stride at the right time, but they need to play more disciplined football.

I agree they need to clean up the mistakes. The only unsportsmanlike I remember was taunting. False starts. But many phantom holding penalties. Worse I ever seen.

Should be a hard nosed game next wk for both. I hope GHS pounds WH. Go Jackets!

Haha well either way we want you guys to beat Creekwood so we won't have to meet again until the quarters... Why don't they have 23 getting the ball more often? I saw that he played mostly receiver and the qb just throws it as far as he can. Playing against good DBs that will end badly. Just an observation.

He had a handful of carries as well. I'm not sure why he don't touch it more. He would probably be a TB with 20+ carries on your team. I believe he should get that many touches for the Jackets especially in big games. If SHS know they win the speed matchup they will take several shots down field. We have others who can blaze 13, 8, 4. Makes it hard on defenses when you have that many threats at one time

I watched the game as an unbiased observer. Here is my two cents! Greenbrier is one to two athletes away from being a really good. They play hard, clean, and tough football. Springfield has the athletes! They have a makeup that could carry them a long way in the playoffs. They lack in the class and discipline department. There could have been more penalties than what were called. Especially holding. There were at least 3 unsportsmanlike, roughing the passer and a face mask. You do the math on yards. That's too many personal fouls. That will kill them against good teams when they get to the latter rounds of the playoffs. It was a good game and a good football atmosphere. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs.

I don't believe Springfield has a lack of class. They just play a different style of ball. They play with a lot of swagger. Greenbrier runs extremely hard and its hard to call who will win between my BDP and GB. As long as Springfield plays without injury they are gonna be hard to beat thats for sure. #4 made a couple of great go get it catches. Line is pretty big and mobile as well. #23 is really really good

Yeah Springfield does not lack class, that late hit on the QB was ridiculous and 1 PF was because he looked at the guy too mean after making a catch, come on now.....lol

Lol. And before that play GHS #3 caught a pass on the other side to move the chains and was bouncing around staring at our player......guess what? No flag. Call it both ways or not at all. It was poorly officiated for the most part.

Another one....8 runs to the sideline out of bounds with a defender all on him and 8 stiffed armed him and defender fell back........flag

Then few plays later 23 catches a pass 4 yds out of bounds and a defender tackles him......no flag lol

    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
