Yes, 2 200 plus pound running backs, a very good offensive line, and the best set of receivers that we faced.  Also, best QB performance against us for the season.  You want anything else?  We still hung with them and made their lives tough.  Our guys and coaches did a heck of a job this season.

Do you think all 11 of the players Catholic had on the field at one time were on scholarship/financial aid? What about the distinct advantage Oak Ridge enjoys week-in and week-out at the skilled positions (running back/receivers) versus most all of our opponents? Catholic has superior coaching and facilities-do you think if the players had switched uniforms prior to the season, Oak Ridge would have won? I don't...we had the state of Tennessee's 5A player of the year the last two seasons, and how did our playoff runs fare?

I for one don't think all 11 players for Catholic were on scholarship,  We have some good skilled position players but not so-much more than the other teams in our area. Catholic has good coaches and probably do have superior facilities to Oak Ridge. As far as players they were above average that's for sure. And T's gone and he could have been used better but that didn't happen. What's your point?

What I got and get from every post of his is that for some reason he seems to have a personal vendetta against Gaddis. Yeah, last year the coaching left much to be desired in terms of how we used Higgins, and the 1st round playoff loss was pretty bad, but give credit where due. It was a great job of coaching this year by our coaching staff, at least admit that. Coach Gaddis hasn't won 300+ games (1 of 6 coaches in TN history to do that from my understanding) because he can't coach, that's for sure.

I think the TSSAA understands the made a mistake in letting private schools play in the public venue. Do they care? The enrollment difference  (9-12) between OR must be substantial, but anyone could see the difference in the players. I would dare to say this has been the case with all the public schools they have played. Good luck to Catholic.  If the bring home the gold ball that will make CC, Fulton, OR and Central look better. For what that is worth.

Thanks for a exciting and fun season 'CATS. Your hard work has made our city and your school proud. Looking forward to 2018 and beyond.

Coaches and AD's need to petition the TSSAA for a complete public/private split

This is the reason for my post. Oak Ridge has comparable talent to that of Knoxville Catholic. IF YOU ARE A WILDCAT FOOTBALL FAN, QUIT WHINING ABOUT THE PRIVATE-PUBLIC DISPARITY....IT CHEAPENS OUR SUCCESS!!! I believe Oak Ridge can play with ANYBODY, just as Maryville does. I, too, am super-proud of the Cats' success this year, especially their steady improvement as the season progressed. That is a sign of GOOD COACHING. There is no shame in losing to a very good Knoxville Catholic team-I hope they go on to Cookeville and bring home the Gold Ball to East Tennessee. The prospects for next year's Wildcat squad look bright- this off-season and Spring practice are critical. Let's raise our level of play to taking on all-comers next season, including Knoxville Catholic.

Whose whinning?  Yes, I believe private schools should play in the private division. Private = private.  Now, if Knox Catholic declares themselves private and need to fill an open date and OR can accommodate let's go for it. How many private schools played in the 5a public division?  For that matter: 1a, 2a,3a,4a and 6a.

GO 'CATS

I actually agree with most things you say in this post. Good post.

Have you already put up your $100,000 ?

I'm out of the "loop." I don't know what has been done so far. I believe that this thing is taking far too long. I don't believe waiting for some Santa Claus to come along and stroke a big check is the way to go. Surely this town has 3-4 dozen movers and shakers that can get this thing done. By the way, atrisk, how much can we put you down for???

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
