Time to get this tread rolling. RWR!

Bryan College is trying to become Oak Ridge South. They signed two Wildcats for this season and have now offered PG Levert Smith. I'm sure Levert will get more offers. Go Bryan Lions, ROAR!

They're building a good program on both the men and women's side.

Be interesting to see how we do against Lebanon on the 25th. We have a loaded schedule this year with Fayette-Ware and Blackman just to name a few. Coach AG has never shied away from stiff competition. I love that. It only helps us in the long run. I'm excited to see a whole bunch of new kids for the most part. Tee, Bush and Tajion are finally gone, unfortunately. I bet the other teams are happy about that though. It seemed like they were here forever, they will be missed, but we gotta keep on keeping on. It's what we do in the Ridge!

I just saw on twitter that 6' 4" Caleb Martin is going to play this season and a 6' 3" player ( I forgot the name, maybe Caldwell or Stephenson, I will get it later) is going to play for the first time since his freshmen year.

I want to go on the record that OR will return to State and Lavert Smith will be a main reason.

Very glad to hear Caleb is playing. That's a huge bonus. We sure could've used him last year for added depth. He's a really good basketball player, too. Excited to hear that. Seth Caldwell is the kid you're thinking of. He played as a freshman, but didn't play the past two years. I believe he;s the son of Marcus, if you remember him years ago. Another member of the famous OR Caldwell clan. Big get.

SS you are right it is Seth. I just saw a tweet by him and he says he is 6'5:, Also, I keep spelling the PG Smith first name wrong. It is Levert no Lavert.

At the half, Oak Ridge is ahead of Brentwood...Marcus Smith (who I don't know) is the leading Wildcat scorer.

RWR, YES!  Oak Ridge opens the season with a 64 - 40 victory over Brentwood. Marcus Smith drops in 19 and Seth Caldwell 16. Neither player played against Brentwood in the State Tournament last season. This to me means Oak Ridge has reloaded and is not rebuilding.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say the have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
