Obviuosly no one can ay 110 plays???Come on down to 1A where ALOT of kids never come off the field till a timeout or end of quarter.I guess 1A dont count as big boy football tho.

Oh and he wants to get the team back to were they were??Shouldnt be hard win 2 more than last year to get back on Ridge and Gregorys level.:o

Barney,

I don't know how to sugarcoat this, so I will just say it. The WB football team last year was the worst WB team I've ever seen by a mile. They would have lost to the '08 WB team that also went 1-9 by at least 4 touchdowns.

I hope the Govs will be greatly improved, but they will have to make huge strides to be a decent team.

One of the worst teams I've ever seen in 6A football went 1-9 in 2014 and turned around to 6-5 the next year which was Bearden.  Another team which reminds me of what William Blount is going through was all those years Campbell County would either win one game and none the next year but finally got some good coaches that have made them very competitive. In all fairness to Shad he came here and had to adopt the same coaching staff except one he brought but that one flew the coop when he realized all the problems. WB also had some weak leadership from a lot of the seniors, not all but a lot last year. The bus ride to Lenior City last year might as well drove on into Fort Loudon Lake so much damage happened that night. The following Monday the best kid to play for them in years left for Maryville because of the actions of a few that happened that faithful Friday Night the parents didn't want their son around any longer. Kids will be Kids and I'm not blaming anything on the coaching staff for that but I was very upset when the coach took the week of fall break off from practice with a very winnable game coming up. I watched that game and you could just see missing that week how much it had an effect on timing. You had a freshman quarterback that needed that week of practice, not laying around for a week getting rusty.  It's a new year and all that is washed under the bridge and it sounds as if they have some kids that want to step up to the plate and get things respectable again. I pull for all the teams in Blount County when their not playing Maryville and if WB can pull off a 3-7 to a 5-5 record I would be very happy in the direction the program is going.

Guess we'll have to see when they scrimmage South-Doyle next week. No doubt they hit bottom last season and should see much progress this year with good senior class leadership. They have done a great job in raising money for many improvements which will be great for the fans and the team. I never really could tell the place was in the condition it was until I went to the restroom and it looked like someone hired Earl Scheib to do one of his 99 dollar special paint jobs. They'll have to call in the Property Brothers from HGTV to get that mess straightened out.1604fc.jpg

When and where is the SD scrimmage? I have some former kids that I'd like to see play. Might even buy ol Barney a hotdog and we can talk about old timer Blount county football.

South-Doyle will be a good scrimmage for William Blount no matter how it turns out to work against a team with great speed. I've always said play the teams you can benefit from not the one's you can't.

Barney,

We have been scrimmaging good teams. Last year we scrimmaged Oak Ridge and Bearden, and we scrimmaged Campbell County and Cleveland before the 2016 season. And in 2015 we scrimmaged Cleveland and Ooltewah. I am still waiting for the day we carry all of those scrimmages into games on Friday nights and start winning.

Have you ever seen someone paint a garage floor or a concrete porch and it last? Of course not. Since we have figured that one out why not go paint a whole concrete football stadium a 100 yards long. I hope I'm wrong but two or three years from now this will look like Fido's #### and they'll have a Special Gov Club meeting to all bring their scrappers with them on the first Saturday in May.2v9pzbm.jpg

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
