We appreciate it and hope you can make the trip out here! I personally thought y’all were an absolutely great team, talks running back was very entertaining to watch. We’re praying for Stanfield

Yea r RB is nice they don't use him enough. And Gavin is fine . he was ok after the 2nd big hit the Drs wouldn't let him back in which I don't blame em. Y'all and UC should be a great game

I think Union City will be Champ.  I have a question for anybody that has seen football in multiple states.  How do we stack up compared to other states at the 2a level?  I've only seen 2a here, and Kentucky.  Are we below average, average, or above average as far as our top 2a teams?  Is Kentucky 2a just that strong, or Is it that we are below average?  We seen how strong Mayfield is, but out of the 4 teams left up there I'd put them at 3rd best.  They will get killed by Christian Academy of Louisville friday, and if they do pull that one out they ain't beating Danville in the finals.  Glasgow is the only final 4 team in Kentucky they are probably better than.  So is Kentucky just a great 2a state, or are we playing poor 2a ball in Tennessee?

I think 1A/2A is pretty weak this year, but we’ve still got a Great football team.

I'm not sure how Union City is compared to the teams we've played in 2009 and 2013, but this is usually a different beast. Columbia Academy has had a great season, but my preseason pick to win it all was Union City. It is true that I wavered off a little to a Union City and Waverly matchup in the semifinals. I kept Union City ranked number 1 when they lost to Mayfield.  Everyone laughed at that ranking, but they are a different animal because of what they do on offense. I was leaning toward Waverly more in the last few weeks, but CA took care of them. I was wrong on that pick for sure.

Most definitely they are, but I think the two teams in the West this year in 2A are pretty even with the two east teams in 1A. But their clearly isn’t like a stand out team this year like Dresden Last year or NCS the year before or UC the year before.

Hopefully we can prove you wrong again and get our first gold ball

I differ on your opinion.  First, who is your team and who have you seen play.  Union City has already beaten a class 4A school whop lost in the 3rd round.  I will match up Union City, Trenton, McKenzie or Adamsville against any team from 4 A and down.  They may loose but would give anyone a game.  So, not sure what your wanting to base your quote by but unless you have seen teams in the west like the TCA's, U C's, Trenton's, McKenzie's and Adamsville's, you might want to do some research on your statement.

I know a lot about all of them and let me rephrase the statement about 2a being weak, it's weaker than the past several years. As for those teams playing any team from 4a down and giving them a game, that's a little far fetched. Nobody is downing them, just us old folks that have been here awhile call it like we see it. Every class has up and down years, Bass thinks 1A is stronger than 2a, be hard to argue with him but I think 1A as a whole is weaker than it's been in many years as well as 2a

If UC doesn't turn the ball over and makes 4 stops, CA will have an awful tough time ... UC is tough to defend because they take what you give them ... If you key on their 2,000 yard rushing back, the QB will hit you with 175 yds rushing ... If you key on those two, one of the wide guys will hit you with 150 yards rushing ... UC just pounds and pounds and pounds ... Relentless ... It wears the defense down ... Now if UC doesn't play ANY defense and turns the ball over, we will be sitting at home the next week ... Historically, UC is good in semi-final games on the road ... If memory serves, we have beaten Huntingdon, Jo Byrns and Nashville Christian on the road ... Possibly Wayne County as well ... I may be wrong on that one ...

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
