No shot clock. Defense can come out and guard them instead of letting them hold it. Like the tournament the way it is.

Agree. Coaching tactics take care of issues like holding the ball, or you lose. Basketball shouldn't just be who has the best athletes, but the most disciplined team and the best strategy. One floor, two baskets, two teams, one ball...equal opportunity for both teams to implement and adjust strategy to maximize their advantages and minimize their weaknesses. If you wan't nonstop action watch the WWE, but I personally like the cerebral part of the game as well as the athletic competition.

Shot clock for sure be put into High School basketball. These coaches that teach passing the ball 50 times are #1 not preparing kids for college, #2 not teaching kids how to play basketball. It's not a game of keep away, you can teach anyone to cut and hold the ball, but can a true coach with basketball knowledge teach kids how to score and defend? Use screens? Ball screens? Defend 1-1, defend drives, defend different kinds of screens etc.  It's rediculous when I hear people say this is fundamental, strategic basketball! You can have fundamental , strategic basketball while your playing the game and teaching kids how to make plays not play keep away because you haven't taught the skills to make plays or defend properly. 40 second shot clock and you can still run time, but then you really have to have strategy to make a play at the end of the clock and coaches have to decide how to defend that as well. Just my opinion, but it would make high school basketball a better game, I hear a lot of complaints from fans having to pay $6/$7 to watch teams pass it around for 2 minutes in the first quarter.

Most teams can't hold the ball 40 seconds.

If a shot clock were to be used, then it cant be 40 seconds or you would have some very low scoring and uninteresting games, that could possibly be like 12 possessions per quarter total. The length of the quarters would have to be changed to 10 minutes with a shot clock. I don't think that many would be willing to do that due to the distance that some teams have to travel during the week on school nights. I know from Franklin Co. to Columbia is already a long enough ride without having to deal with a longer game in between the trips there and back. I like the idea of a shot clock, but just not sure it would fly.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
