I'm going to have to throw Loretto in the mix.  They bring back the 2 six foot posts that were a freshman and a sophomore this past season.  They are very athletic and they bring back 2 very good starting guards.  They also have 3 young reserve guards that got a lot of playing time.  Loretto played 9 deep, so the experience will be there. The real deal is an 8th grader coming that will be one of the best.  Carley  Weather scored over 1,000 points at South Lawrence Middle School, and the other three 8th graders that will be coming, won their State Sectional this year, going undefeated for the season.  If Loretto could have had Carley this year they would have gotten to state.  Loretto lost close games to Summertown and Huntindon, so they were not too far off anyway.  I think you will see Loretto right in the mix for Region 6 this upcoming season.

coulda, woulda, should

Summertown loses 8 seniors out of a team of 13-14 players. They’ve got a few good young players but I’d expect it to be somewhat of a rebuilding year for them.

They do loose a lot of seniors, but the core of young talent that they have has 2 years of experience playing in the state tournament. Just think that they will continue to get better as the progresses on.

Not asking to be smart but just curious as to why no one has Dresden picked to make it back next year. We’re losing one senior. The rest of the girls have grown up a lot this year. I’ll be the first to say we haven’t played our best ball when we got to the Boro the past two years. Summertown 3’s & turnovers killed us.

I for one have never seen Dresden play except for the state tournament last year I think. Just don't know much about what you guys have. I just speak on what I have seen or heard. Heck for all I know, you guys may end up winning it next year. I just know what I have seen out of Summertown over the last 2 years and what I was impressed with in watching Greenfield twice this year at the tournament.

From what I saw at the state tournament I would say Winn is your best player? Point guard you have starting from Clarksburg didnt impress me and she is taking another girls minutes who looked to be the better ball player. You lose your best player in Davis who was scrappy and did all the dirty work. The sophomores will need to step up

I agree. Winn did well along with #1. I liked #34 and #12 for ball handling.

ClarKrange, Loretto, Summertown, Dresden, Gibson County and Greenfield will all be favorites to reach the Glass House if they keep their teams together.  I heard that there is a possibility that some very good players may be changing schools this summer.  I guess we will see but if it happens some teams chances drop and others enter the picture.

Changing teams could help, could hurt. Could cause disention among team and jealousy.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
