So basically you want to split county schools from privates and city schools correct?

No No No. Keep what you have but make some adjustments. If a school had 1,000 kids and the average distance each traveled to school was 2.5 miles and another school had 1000 and the average distance each traveled was 5 miles common sense should tell anyone that less are going to go out for football having to drive 5 miles versus the 2.5. One school has a distinct advantage over travel time and if you cut that number in half for the one that doesn't you just might get some better games instead of dozens of mercy rule contest every Friday Night. It really wouldn't be that hard to figure out. On an out of zone player that should count 20 students per player, very simple. If they don't do something eventually to even up competition other than just enrollment certain schools are doomed to fail.

So again we need to take an upward approach , where everyones a winner?

Leveling the field.

Maybe they should put in a rule for spotting the other team points as well.  Then there is always tying one arm behind your back.

There truly is no reasoning with you lol Nobody is saying spot points, tying arms, giving trophies, or handing out free wins. They are just debating on a system that would provide a more competitive product across the board. If you view it as an "upward" approach, there's nothing anyone can do for you.

In all levels of sport there have been blowouts. The NFL is the one that changed the thinking when their rule changes to promote parity were enacted. Look at MLB, NBA, NCAA football, and the English Premier League. There are haves and have-nots.

This is from Wikipedia:

Many consider the NFL to be the most "fair" or competitive league, with many different teams having a chance to win each year. In the NFL, complete parity would be a state where on any given Sunday, any given team can win any given game. The illusion of parity in the NFL may be somewhat of a misconception, given that several teams such as the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Green Bay Packers have appeared in the playoffs in almost all of the past ten years, while a team such as the Cleveland Browns has a playoff drought that is currently over a decade long. The most important thing to remember is that a franchise can be struggling and the reason for it can be due to the team's ineptitude when it comes evaluating talent, coaching strategies, developing players, having a good organizational structure, and overall team and player operations.

Reasoning...lol you can call what you want. Practice , mentality , commitment, dedication ,attitude ,sound fundamentals and good coaching are the best and truest ways to achieve what you seek.

Would you rather play Bearden or maybe Farragut this Friday as to go out 321 and play a bunch of kids that most likely couldn't beat our 9th grade. Let Heritage play McMinn Central this week. You would see more people come to the game if they evened it out. I seriously doubt I want to waste the time to go out to Heritage myself and I live right behind it. I've already talked to half a dozen people that have picked another game to go to or just stay home as to go see what they already know is going to happen.

Why dont we just invite one of them to the game and alternate qtrs.

Ill go and watch my kids no matter who or where they play. Fan apathy is reaching epic proportion. Wont go in the rain, in the heat , in the cold , wont support in a potential beat down etc.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
