To any and all state championship qualifying teams...please show respect and class to volunteers, especially young ball girls who help facilitate this tournament. They do not deserve to be cussed at or called disgusting names.

You better go to twitter for that. I don't think the intended target will see it here.

I volunteer and i have no problem cussing back. Except this year was the first time in 8 years people behaved not including the Giles Co coach, the whole district hated him.

We had ballboys/girls at our state semifinal match for part of the first half, then most of them disappeared.  Those who remained were in the around 6-8 year old.  It is inappropriate to put a young child into a situation where they are incapable of performing their duties.  This is unacceptable for a marquis level state tournament event.

Heard the Beech fans chanting "Miss it" every time a Greeneville player stepped up to take a PK in the shootout. Let's also go down this path in our conversation about "class".

It happens in basketball every time a free throw is taken. I wouldn't, and haven't ever,  do it or allow my children to do it but to me suggesting its “classless” is a stretch.

I would agree with you about young children not serving in this capacity. I do not know who sets the rules. I know on the volunteer sign-up, it allows 6-8 year olds to serve if their parent is standing with them to help them.

The situation I referenced was where a 13 year old did not get the ball in fast enough for the coach's liking, but there was another ball still in the field of play.

I agree with the assessment that all games should have capable ball boys/girls, but until then, let's not call kids disgusting names and cuss at them.

Different etiquette for different sports.  Would you be happy if your daughter was a golfer and some clown yelled during her back swing?  Also, large numbers of free throws occur in basketball/with PK's the game is on the line for each one taken.  I would be highly upset if my fans did this to an opponent and yes I would say it shows a definite lack of class/poor sportsmanship.

Given the option of building up their goalkeeper or attempting to tear down an opponent, they chose the latter. Enough said.

A parent's job is to CHEER for their daughter.  Period.

Not yell at a ref.

Not berate a teen age young lady.

Not argue with fans.

BLESS YOUR DAUGHTER WITH WORDS OF AFFIRMATION.

Sounds cheesy.... but it works.  Trust me.

I would second this! Good luck to all the championship game qualifiers. I know how much labor and effort and time has been devoted to your teams to make it this far.

    • We have 2 PG's that will be added to the lineup and another guard and all are athletic and can handle ball pressure. Gibson County beat Westview 4 times in 2024. Westview brought in a Miss Basketball Candidate from South Fulton last year and you want to say Gibson County has a mental hump against Westview. I tell you what you put her on Gibson County's squad and Westview would have had a mental hump. Here is a fact. They wouldn't have won it without her last year. Last I looked Gibson County has played with who we got on our campus. Let's see how Westview does this year with who they got on their campus. I do think they will be pretty good but I don't like shots being taken at my school especially from Westview.
    • Smith County fans are delusional is they are wanting to get rid of Dyer. If they think they are supposed to be some powerhouse of a football program that wins 10+ games every year they need a reality check. Never have been that good of a football program and probably never will. It’s too hard for a small rural place to be consistently good every single year
    • If you’re talking about when they lost to Corbin HS out of Kentucky(4A school in KY) in 2017, they lost by 1 point and Corbin went 14-2 that year in Kentucky so to say they got “taken behind the woodshed by a mediocre out of state team” is a bit of a stretch. You act like Alcoa never loses at all. They lose games every year, granted mostly to Maryville but other teams have beaten them in the regular season. Alcoa just turns into another animal in the playoffs. Winning is a learned skill and it’s an advantage that Alcoa has over everyone when the postseason rolls around
    • Carthage is returning QB will be his 3rd years starting and a Jr.He should be coming around.A soph tailback that got a lot of exp as a freshman.Biggest problem is the line. They have a couple of good athletes that will make plays but the rest still remain to be seen.Size is not a problem.New OC will be interesting. He is known to be a trickster but a genius in some peoples mind.Coach Dyer better get the ball rolling.I'm hearing a lot of eyes will be on him this year.GO OWLS
    • If Alcoa keeps winning titles after moving to 4a it makes the whole state look weak.  Havent they won 10 in a row or something.  My god how can a team win 10 in a row, and the 1 time they went and played a kentucky 3a team they got there ace's beat.  Some redbone coonhound team handled business on them, but they can constantly win 3a in tennessee.  I remember at the time looking up that redbone coonhound team that beat them, and found out that team is made fun of across the state of kentucky cause they havent won a title in like close to 50 years.  Think i seen they are now in 4a in kentucky, and they never won a title in the last 40-50 years no matter if they are 2a, 3a, or 4a but somehow was able to take alcoa behind the woodshed in the midst of there title run about 5-8 ,years ago dont remember the year.  Point is it looks bad when a team gets there hind end whooped like a 3 legged rented mule to a mediocre out of state team the 1 time they play them, but can dominate the whole state in 3a for over a decade.  Someone has to start beating them.
