After watching this, I don’t know who is better....Greeneville or Alcoa!!! I’d love to see that game

i havent seen alcoa play a full game, but it is my honest beleif that this particular greeneville team could beat any team in the state at any level. Sure there's a few teams that could beat us, but not in a tucker stadium game. not this team and not this year. no way, no how......i urge any logical and sensible retorts!!! Cant get a competitive game on the field, so now i'll try to get a competitive argument going....LOL

Yep, it's all about the IFL now.No doubt this was one of  the best high school football teams in the state this year.Watching 6A and the private schools didn't change my mind. That said,we are the 4A champs and I'm perfectly happy to let anyone think what they want with the IFL.

ok, took a while, but i finally got caught up on the thread. It's fun to go back and read these threads as the game is being played...kinda like a "play by play" of the game, with fan input to boot....Man am i gona miss these seniors and man am i happy that we get one more year with the juniors. As much as we lose to graduation, Most people are going to assume that Greeneville will " Come back to earth "......im gona quote Lee Corso on that one........" NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND"

you must have used voice recognition....LOL...sometimes mine puts Greenwood also

No I was listening to the Abbeville, SC game online and the old man and I were talking about Greenwood SC football while I was trying to type. They have a pretty good program in Abbeville for a small town. Watched Kelly Bryant play there for a couple of years before Dabo convinced his dad to move closer to Clemson  so he could have a hand in his development.

well, before we give out all the "classy team" awards, i have a little something to bring us....and devilsx4 can back me on this and confirm im not making this up....as Haywood was walking from the locker room to the stadium, through our fans and cheerleaders....one of their kids proclaimed " we bout to F these mother F'ers up".....now, im fine with a kid beleiving that but I draw the line at vocalizing it in front of the oposing teams fans and cheerleaders....pluse, when they got halfway thru the lot and came down this little set of stairs, i was at the bottom of those stairs waiting in the devils to come down and as their coaches and team walked  past me....close enough that a couple of them litterally brushed arms with me i might add.....i stood their and repeatedly told them " good luck today gentlemen, good luck today gentlemen, good luck today gentlemen ".....and only 2 out of the whole crew bothered to say " thank you"....and neither of those 2 were coaches.....tells me a little more "life" coaching might be needeed at Haywood....that said, those were  some big #### boys...considerably bigger than our 2 biggest dudes....and im not gona lie....the way the Tcats started i was worried....i mean BIGTIME worried....worried that we might not have them mercy rule by halftime.......not even joking about that either

And if you think your team should be awarded the "classy team" award, then you are mistaken. I am confused as to why you would be crowding their locker room as your team obviously was not the ones going on to the field at the time. I am sure it was a little intimidating to be surrounded by the opposing teams parents and cheerleaders when you are excited and nervous to play in the biggest game of your life. If you do not want to hear locker room talk, then don't stand right out side of the locker room. As to the coaches, they were wondering why the heck you were standing right there too. When you're focused on the biggest game of your coaching career, you tune out everything that is going on around you. You have no idea what kind of coaching is done at Haywood, so assuming that "life" coaching needs to happen more makes you sound like you are so much better than they are. Those Tomcats are some of most respectful boys I have ever been around in my life. They teach them skills to be successful once football is over and how to lose humbly. Something your coach might need to be teaching more of since once your players were up, they talked filthy to our kids. You need a lesson in winning gracefully.

Just my humble opinion.I don't know Haywood's coach from adam but seeing him talk and watching him on the sideline with what I guess was his small son was all I needed to see.I think both teams have a couple of classy coaches and there is no way anyone can keep 100% of their team from showing their backside all of the time.I'm sure the young man probably said it and I'm sure a player or two on both sides had a few words during the game.It happens and once again congratulations to Haywood on a fine year and best of luck to all of those seniors.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
