I am 55 years old. Been keeping up with Maryville Rebels Football since I was 10 years old. I was not born when Knox Ramsey or Jim Cowboy Hill was playing at Maryville.  Only player at Maryville I ever seen that made it to the NFL was Danny Spradlin. I think Carl Stewart was a practice player. There is no doubt in my mind if Aaron Douglas would have lived he would be playing NFL Football right now.

To me it is amazing that Maryville has had all this success without a  ton of High D1 athletes and NFL players.  Amazing what great coaching can do. The truth is Maryville has never had a Peyton Manning or Eric Berry type player.

I was really surprised that Jay Guillermo didn't make it to the pros especially after being on a National Championship team and being All-ACC his senior year as a center. But then again what do I know, I'm a dog.

Whites Creek High School here in the Metro-Nashville area has had several players go on to play at the NFL level.

Ahmad Childress:  Detroit Lions, New York Giants

Frank Omiyale:  Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks

Shelton Quarles:  Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Frank Pillow:  Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Eric Joyce:  Chicago Bears

Jeff Powell:  San Diego Chargers

No offense, but not many teams have had a player of the caliber of those 2 come out of their respective programs haha

    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
