Wow. Thanks for those encouraging, supportive words BigPurple (& others too) That means a lot to me. I do appreciate that.

As to the Lions this year, the things I'm wondering about are::

- How many guys will try out for our team?

- How will our fans show up at the games?

- Who will Coach Johnson round up as assistants & support staff?

- What new schemes & wrinkles will our Lions have? And the overall style of play, the philosophy of football as it were-- will offense be a ball control, ground & pound with clouds of dust machine that'll sit on leads (like Hodge did)? Or will it be a wide-open style & let's out-score the opponents (Rang style)? And if winning, will he let the guys score as much as possible? Or will we have a hybrid combo of all the above? As to our D, I'm hoping we will once again have our legendary dominance, that stingy, hard-hitting, mistake causing, quick swarming, beast-like, shutting-down-opponents band of warriors, with us scoring-on-D alot too. Of course it depends on how many come out & the skills & attitude they bring to the equation.

Which reminds me,  our younger team's coaches that start them out & train/prepare them before they get to HS, those coaches are doing awesome work!!! These "feeder programs" are a huge part of a high school team's success imo. And they're a huge part of Dresden's success in the past (which will hopefully resurface with our new coach).

Well... I'm rambling again. I think I'm a little upbeat & excited about our new coach & football team's future. YES! GO LIONS! #1 ALL THE WAY! (my horn is blaring.. feet are stomping.... cowbell going crazy.. shouting "Beast Mode" from the stands!)

Keep posting and hope the Lions have a great year

Looking for another undefeated regular season for the Vero Beach Fighting Indians. Then the playoffs start and they get spanked by a Miami or Orlando team in 3rd or 4th round. Sounds like that team south of McKenzie a little. BPM what area you visiting?

You talking bout that team south of Mckenzie that you have never beat in a play-off game!

I go to a conference there every year. It is paid for thru my job. You have some places around there that you would suggest I venture out to??

Honestly, I don't venture out that much. NASA is an awesome place to visit if you haven't been there.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
