All I'll say is that we've looked solid this preseason. I know we have faced both Franklin County and Stewart's Creek. Looking forward to a great season.

I think Sumner and Wilson Co as a whole are maybe a little better than last year overall.

Kinda strange #15 (QB the last 7 games last year) is not getting any snaps. I heard he was 27 for 32 the last 7 on 7. Got 1 series against Brentwood with the JV, had a 25 yard run, and they scored the only TD the varsity or JV had all night on that drive.

From the outside looking in, he is definitely the most physically capable of the 4 or 5 QBs they run out there. For whatever reason the caching staff must not trust him. If Im not mistaken the only snaps he saw Friday night were at fullback.

I find that odd about Beech with such high expectations coming into this season.   They should be at machine status!

Nowhere near machine status yet. Lots of work to do at qb, both O and D line and secondary. They lost a starting corner from last year to Pearl Cohn. (Head-scratcher) Also lost their best returning D lineman from last year who chose not to play this year. If they can improve anywhere near as much as they did last year during the season, they should be in good shape come playoff time.  I don’t know anything about Jax Northside, but I do know we will find out exactly where they stand after Henry Co comes to Shackle Island on Aug 31. I have faith in Coach Crabtree and his staff.

That is still a ton of experienced players coming back.  Why the question marks at QB? Is that kid who played last year just good enough to play at other positions because of need?  I fully expect Beech to be in beast mode by Henry Co.  I am hoping the Wave can upset Hillsboro again and make that week 9 game interesting, but that is a long way off right now.  Way way far off.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
