BloodCharger
What a showing. They lost to Tyner 4-0, EH 4-2 and throttled Red Bank 4-1! What happened to the unstoppable #4 Red Bank Lions? I think this bodes well for McMinn. They're going to be tough to beat this year. Chargers dont have a chance next week imo. Just too much even though they're improved. Both county high schools going to have a good year but I may jump on the Cherokee train. Wow!!!!

Were they missing some starters or did McMinn just wake up. I figured McMinn would have a pretty good squad this year based on returners, but they will play in a pretty good region. TNHighSchoolFBFan
I was told they were letting some younger kids play. McMinn should be improved but I still see them only winning 5 or 6 games.

After seeing both Central and McMinn, I think that game will be closer than you think. Rivals are hard to predict especially when both have improved. Good luck to both teams!! The first (McMinn) scrimmage against Tyner had a lot of experimenting with kids in different (new) spots and play calling going on. I don't think the McMinn team you saw is a good representation of what they will be. The scrimmage against Red Bank was less experimenting and more of a real "game like" representation. Tyner is a good squad with tremendous athletes, I think you guys should have a lot of success this year. It looked like Red Bank was still figuring things out. I think Red Bank will be just fine this season. I do agree that the Central and McMinn game may be a closer game than expected, it will be who wins the battle upfront. A lot of strong feelings in this rivalry. One McMinn running back returns back to Central (transferred after Freshman season) expect him to have a big game and be playing with a lot of motivation. Maybe a better way to judge RB preseason is who else have they scrimmaged. It's hard to judge a team by one scrimmage.
logcabinman
I support Central of course, but I always pull for the kee's when they are not playing the blue. I feel Davis will throw some wrinkles in offensively to keep McMinn off balance. Ball control is key, keeping defense off the field. Honestly with this being first game, hot, and Central having more boys going both ways, it is tough to pull out that McMinn victory. It is always a great atmosphere that I look forward to. My last one graduated last year, so I can watch a game in a different way now. Gonna miss that 8 year stretch. McMinn should be a good team this year. We will see about the Chargers. Wishing both programs much success. Edited August 16, 2019 by logcabinman
