Finally made it to the barn! My take on the game? It was greenback / Oneida. After several lopsided and frankly embarrassing losses to GB in recent years we finally had a more "traditional" meeting again. Greenback is a very good team, their run game took a step this week. They ran pretty well I feel. They weren't a meat grinder but they're not built to be. They certainly ran effectively enough to extend drives and to supplement a very potent pass game. Yes they left a certain TD on the field but fumbles happen, part of the game. Great stand to keep points off the board after that. We defended their pass a lot better than I expected. Did we shut it down? Nope, not even close but we limited splash plays to 3 maybe 4 truly big splash plays if I remember correctly. Let's face it, an athlete such as Willis is gonna get loose regardless of your plan. Players make plays and he certainly did. Very talented kid and was fun to watch in space! I don't have a clue about stats really but I felt like we limited him as best we could have. We couldn't cover him but I think our scheme disrupted the pass game just enough to decrease the effectiveness from what I expected to see. They won the turnovers lost battle 3-1 I believe, if I'm wrong someone will certainly correct me. We passed quite a but better than I expected, that was nice to see. We weren't able to run as effectively as I expected until we went with a different approach but it wasn't a viable option anymore as the game drew to a close. Great game and had a blast with the GB crew as always. Thanks for the hospitality guys, the burger was great at the corner market, highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area. Ready for next year's match up already :thumb:

You all had a great D game plan and made the most out of it.GB secondary dropped some sure picks and O left some points on the field but that was indicative of these type games.I lovrd the fact BOTH teams played a VERY respectful hard nosed game no silly penalties for either one.We are turning the corner and becoming more balanced.Oneida will win alot of games this year but they have a TOUGH schedule also.Good luck Indians.

Glad to see our boys play together as a team. I was really impressed with how they came out last night. Our D as a whole got a lot better last night. We definitely benefited from a tough hard fought game. Oneida is a good ball club and I love to here lambert over there chewing on them boys lol he don’t cut em any slack. Reminds me of my old ball coach lol

Warchant man it will take a few games to get the orchestration personnel figured out.  I garuntee it just takes a few games for them to get used to each other.  I garuntee you I aint joking either.

Yeah, great atmosphere, everyone seemed to be glad to get back on each others schedule. You could tell TL and Ryan were glad to be out there matching wits. They looked like long lost friends out there talking before the game lol.

Sounds like the score should have been a little more with stats like that. 400 yds is putting it down the field pretty good.

Yeah they left some opportunities, then again we turned it over 3 times so we might have missed a few also. It's football, happen to both sides. Part of the game.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
