steelcityroller
From what I seen tonight Mt. Juliet has won the region. Hendersonville is too small up front to be a threat in the region.

That could have been the best two year run of athletes in school history. I think two years in is still too early to tell a lot about any HC. With that said, what I have seen on film, he has the kids believing and playing at a different level than I have seen in the last few years. There’s still a lot to learn about him, his staff and where this program is/is going. Then there is the question of the ineligible player. I have no dog in that fight, but I’ve been told both that he knew and that he didn’t. I don’t believe it’s true, but if so I would be concerned. Anyway, we need to leave this topic alone here, as it’s the wrong thread. Lol Back to this thread... I believe Hendersonville shows they’re better than what people think I don't disagree, but everyone in Clarksville has athletes, not everyone wins. I'm not saying he's the modern version of Calvin Short but he's now 2 for 2 at elevating a program. Getting the kids & community to buy in is half the battle, Gallatin's resources & talent will take care of the rest
firstandgoal
Hendersonville lost this game in the first half. Complete domination everywhere but the scoreboard in the first half for the Commandos. They should have been up three scores at halftime but penalties that kept a Lebanon scoring drive alive, a bad pitch by the QB that squashed a Hendersonville scoring threat. They outgained Lebanon 210-94 in the first half but only led 13-7. Second half belonged to Dequantay Shannon. Best half of football he’s played this year. Ran for 150 in 2nd half alone. Also shoutouts to 2nd/3rd string QB’s who led the game winning TD drive after Copas was out with arm injury. And lastly to Christian Pena. Radio guys say he has knocked down 49 consecutive PAT’s which is a huge deal considering these last two wins have come down to a couple of missed PAT’s by the opponent. That win should go far toward a home playoff birth.

The odds are them continuing forward momentum and doing better than 8-3 this year is very slim IMO. Especially considering that they took a big step back this year on offense and lost two D1 players on both sides of the ball. I expect them to go 5-6 or 6-5 this year. I don’t think they have to improve on last years 8-3 record to take a step forward by hosting a playoff game. Overall record won’t be as good this year because they replaced Trousdale Co, Antioch, and Coffee Co with Gallatin, Beech, and Stewart’s Creek in non region. If they can beat Wilson Central and Rossview (not a given) then yes they’ll probably finish 6-5 with a home loss to Riverdale or Blackman in round one of the playoffs and that will still be forward momentum in my opinion. Hosting a game in the playoffs is nice, but not sure I'd consider it a step forward if the result is the same. That said, I think it would be a good sign for the future that they lose the kind of talent that they did and potentially finish 2nd in their region. Blackman isn't what they were last yr and Riverdale has just proven that they're good at beating bad opposition so I think Lebanon would have a decent chance
mondo44
Hats off to Lebanon. 2 weeks in a row we gave one away. Like a previous poster said we should have been up at least 2 scores at the half. Penalties killed us all night, the biggest negated a screen pass down to the 5 with 2 minutes to go. We throw a pick in our own end of the field which led to Lebanon’s winning TD. Kids played hard, coaches had a good plan but you can’t make mistake after mistake against a good team and expect to win.

If they get the #2 seed they will have a home playoff game against Riverdale IMO. I wouldn't automatically chalk that up as a loss but most likely. I get what you are saying about the schedule. 6 minutes ago, MidTennFootball said: Hosting a game in the playoffs is nice, but not sure I'd consider it a step forward if the result is the same. Do you think that Lebanon could play Alcoa and Ravenwood and only lose by a combined 12 points? I highly doubt it.

Blackman also lost by 42 to Independence and was only up on Warren Co 14-7 at the half, so no telling which Blackman you will get. Blackman is a mess on the offensive side of the ball and it has nothing to do with the talent

Blackman may be a mess at the moment but they still have shown they can hang with the top teams in state and still have tons of talent. Given that there is still a whole half a season left I would feel pretty confident that they can figure something out.
eers
Well, I didn’t see the game but apparently the three score prediction was off. It appears that a lot of Hendersonville’s issues are mental and a lack of mental toughness. What “first and goal” described is what I anticipated, but as mindo said...mistakes. A talented Hendersonville team that just can’t seem to put/keep in together. This season for them has been chocked full of mistakes. Looks to me like Hatfield is really being missed...
