Who leaves a team at this time?

Not sure something like this has happened before. Reason for leaving has never been said. I read in Tennessean he's being home schooled and will enroll next fall at a new school. Be interesting his response to a head coach at one of the schools recruiting him as to his reason for quitting team during week of basically a playoff game.

Trust me, the teams "recruiting" him could care less why or when he left Brentwood Academy as long as he is on their roster come Aug 1.  Because he is a D1 prospect, TSSAA will allow him to play because they do not want to be the reason why one of the best players in the state on TN have to sit out a year, much like the Ravenwood situation this season.

Sorry, I was referring to a college coach asking him why he left when he did. I am not sure any answer he gave would be justified.

He's a D-1 prospect. I don't think it will be problematic. There may be so skepticism on some folks part, but not enough to scare everybody away. He will have a plethora of opportunities.

Just saying I have never seen a kid leave a school week of big game. Reason must not be a big deal or it would have made the news. Have you ever seen anything like this before?

Or perhaps it’s personal in nature and the details are being withheld for that reason...

I guess. Nobody ever questions family, health ,or personal reasons. Sometimes this is a disguise for reason. Still any of these reasons do not seem likely to leave in middle of week before biggest game of year.

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
