Four class basketball

It looks like it is picking up some steam in discussions across the state. For or against? My biggest reason for is the number of magnet/charters starting up and adding basketball, really affecting the classifications.

Four classifacations in basketball has been a long time coming. It will spread baseball/softball a bit thin, but its past time for four basketball classifacations.

Agreed. The dearth of charters/magnets opening, especially in Memphis has skewed Class A & thus affected the other two classes as well.

This would make it a lot more fair for smaller schools.

smaller schools, what about small big schools,  like a school with an enrollment of 1300 playing against a school with 2300?

This is where it matters most. Except drop that number to about 1,050 trying to compete with 2000+

Four classes would help to change that too. in 4A some of the small large schools would be in 3A without the 2000+ schools.

Another change that is needed is districts should be of similar size. 6A has 8 teams but when it comes to the region, the other district only has 4 teams so they get everyone in, including weak teams, while 6A has some better teams that can't advance.

my two cents, basketball alot more forgiveness than football,you can only play 5 kids at a time, and really dont need numbers per sea, but usually the "championship" games at the glass house shows the difference between A,AA,AAA  total team skill levels.

Now on the girls side, it will make a huge deal. A good single A school won't schedule a AAA with 2,000 plus kids. Gibson County and Greenfield will, because they want their kids tested before tourney time. But the average A school wont.

Way overdue. It’s completely ridiculous for the so called little big schools with just over 1000 kids to be playing schools with 2800 or MORE! Change it now

I'd have to see enrollment breakdowns before making a more informed decision. There's a big difference at the Boro when you watch A-AA-AAA. I think it'd be good to have an extra class personally in basketball and one less class in football. IMO
