More comments on the game.

- Meigs inexperience in the big game showed. as i think their line slacked off in the 3rd. i still give Dickson full credit for his output. but meigs looked at the TC game and the first half in the BC bowl, and thought "we can coast to victory". their coaches taking a knee late in the 2nd Q was coaching malpractice.

- Give peabody credit. they stunk it up for 24 minutes just about. but they, like champions do, activated beast mode or the entire second half. they were unstoppable. likely the best half of football by anyone in 2A the last 3-4 seasons.

- Swafford wasn't 100%, but he still is such a special talent. He was limping between plays from the start. He was slow walking to the huddle, to the sideline, i mean all of ou coudl see it. Before the Dickson hit. And after.

- Baugus had the game taken from him by the coachig staff. he was wild and jameis winstonesque with multipel throws, resulting in multiple picks. he looked like the least of the semifinalists. like the heisman winner who plays a bad bowl game.

- peabody's line, who i said would be at a disadvantage, wore meigs down on both sides. and opened huige holes offensively in the 2nd. i was wrong on that one.

- meigs kickoffs were putrid and gave peabody fp at their own 40 on average all day. huge factor.

- i admired peabody's staff for seeing that dickson was unstoppable and they literalyl gave him the ball like 13-14 times straight. most coaches get in their own way on stuff like that. more evidence of "been there before".

- meigs rbs did not have a good game. but they werent really given a chance to establish anything.

Swafford may not have been at 100 percent but Dickson had a sprained Mcl. Baugus bad shoulder, Noah high ankle sprain, Eli hip pointer.  So just like last year, we will not use injuries for excuses.  Im not saying you are doing that.  I think your assessment is on point.  Experienced coaches vs inexperienced coaches and team.  I feel Meigs thought they were the better team because of the 1st half.  But if you take a closer look as you have stated, Peabody stunk in up and shot themselves in the foot in the 1st half.  Our kids never flinched.  The fans may have but the kids and coaches never missed a beat.  After the Fairley game, there was no stopping this team of Destiny.

I know  us Peabody folk have been back and forth with you, but one thing I give you credit for, is that you did not run and hide after Peabody's win. I still say you are a jerk-LOL

    • That was after the 2nd year of a 4 year cycle.  Since Covid we have been on a 2 year cycle.  So, there really isn't a "mid cycle" reclassification this time.   Idk if there's anything in place to address the issue of a school closing.  My guess is, nothing can be done.  This would be akin to the 1st year of a 4 year cycle, where a school has the 20% +/- but not allowed or even have the option to move up or down.
    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
