If Huntingdon stays out of Loretto's side of the bracket in the region tournament, they'll be in Murfreesboro.

GC was 12 deep last year but only played 7 for the most part in post season. Got a feeling Greenfield will use 6 most of the time in tournaments and GC will play 6 I would imagine at the most. Rotatio

State Tournament is getting closer and closer. I personally have chosen 5 teams that I think will be there starting in East TN to West TN.                        North Green,  Clarkrange, Pickett Co

Only this way because of  TSSAA taking away our natural region teams That geographical made more sense & put us across the River - now after they know they messed this up they try to legislate what too far for teams to travel  / bet 8AAA wish they would move them out of Murfreesboro region but somehow nobody wants to swap - wonder why

Actually Clarksburg can do it and probably will be the site next year

Section 8. An eighth grade student is eligible to participate for a member school if he/she is enrolled at the school. Students below the eighth grade are not eligible to practice or participate for a member school. Any student repeating the eighth grade shall not be eligible for high school participation during the year that the student is repeating the eighth grade. Participation as an eighth grader shall not reduce the number of semesters a student is allowed to participate after enrolling in the ninth grade.

I think Huntingdon proposed something a few years to change it or eliminate it all together and it got shot down. When I was in school at Greenfield we were a K-12 school but K-8 and 9-12 were in two different buildings separated by a street and we played up as 8th graders.

Same situation at Scotts Hill back before the new school (9-12) was built... played up from 8'th grade until then, but not anymore, even though both are titled "Scotts Hill".

If you did that, you played illegally. Pickett has 1 K-8 and 1 9-12 in the entire county.... separated by a road and have been told repeatedly that 8th graders cannot play

Pickett would have two different schools then. If you are in K-8 Pickett you are not enrolled at the 9-12 school. The rules says enrolled at the same school, not the same school system as it would be at Pickett. So that is why they have been told repeatedly that 8th graders can not play. Greenfield has been one K-12 school since 1990 even though they were in the two different buildings until the fall of 2004. I graduated in 2003 and we did it for about 10 years prior under the coach I played for.

Exactly, 2 different schools now.

I went to Union with Crystal Eason, who if there was a "8th Grader playing up Hall of Fame" would be selected on her first ballot.

Looks like the state tournament is going to be a good one. Greenfield’s still rolling.  Pickett County beat a good Clay County team pretty good last night. Clarkrange is always tough. Summertown to me is playing really good right now. We knew Loretto was good and I once thought they may be a step ahead of them. Not so sure now. Lots of others in East TN and West TN getting ready to battle it out. Going to be some good basketball in a few weeks. Prayers to all for good health and safety moving forward!!

Isn't that splitting hairs???? There IS NO OTHER school in Pickett Co???

      OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.

      They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.

      The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.

      I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
