I have an Insider over there And I do believe he's going to be there for a while. Austin-east just doesn't have the resources that he likes to have to run his programs. And what resources are those? I mean , AE has a lot things that the “outsiders” don’t know about . It’s the History of the AE program that will make this a hard job to turn down. With KCS going through a hiring freeze until June 1st, I don’t think there will be much interest from the outside . Therefore, I see a current assistant taking this job. I think this current assistant will be good as the head coach and will keep the program growing .

It’s hard to be a roadrunner ! We in the same boat. Believe it out not we lose about 350 8th graders each year to other schools.

Current Head Coach, now former head coach, Jeff Phillips resigns from his post. His wife will be taking a job in Northern GA and Coach will be looking to attain a coaching/teaching job there as well. Coach Phillips spent 7 years at the helm of the Roadrunners . His 1st 2 years didn’t go as planned but he quickly turned it around his last 5 years. He’s leaving the program in better shape then when he took over. I , for one, wish him the best of luck and THANK him for his leadership and dedication to AE. It’s not going to be the same without him on the sideline but like he preaches to his players, FAMILY is very important and but I’m sure he’ll keep tabs on his former players/school. Wonder who will throw their name in the hat for this job? Dang I was looking forward to playing AE in the up coming years but happy for coach. Hopefully it doesn’t fall thru Edited May 13, 2020 by FBfan26

Dont get me wrong AE is a storied program, with Athletes galore!I played in the 80's and was playing in the 1A title game when AE was playing Brentwood in the 2A,so I understand the draw.GCA has unlimited resources when they want something and they want the current coach hard to compare the two for that reason. I don’t think his offense will work to well at AE. Remember speed kills so if he’s not the type of coach that’ll let the Roadrunner out run the coyote , I don’t think he’ll be a good fit.
