Tornado Alley Awaits Gibson County. UC vs Gibson County

Last year was embarrassing to say the least. The Tornadoes put the ball on the ground more than a dozen times. We had "fumblitis" ( made up that word) in a bad way. That same situation happened last night. I don't know why, but we seem to have at least one game every season when we can't hold on the football. I'm hoping that we had our one game of "fumblitis"  this season. With that being said,  I am expecting my Tornadoes to be ready to avenge last year's loss in this game. Aside from the Fumbles and the ridiculous amount of penalties, my Tornadoes are improving each week. I expect for my guys to be ready to set things right come Friday night. What say you?

GC is super young ,I think they will progress as the year proggreses,I think UC pills this one out but GC has done a great job preparing for the Twisters as of late,I think it will be close than most think.

I agree. GC will keep it respectable. Our DC is a good one. UC pulls away in the 2nd half 2-3 TD game. We are super young this year. Coach Findlay has done a good job with them though. He has taught GC how to be physical.

Funny you brought it up ,I have not wanted to hurt feelings g but you said it ! GC of old was soft and quit once they got down, didn't like to get hit and  just seemed disinterested in being on the field! This is a football program now,did I say they are world beater? Nope, but at least they play hard now and will get better ...

When Argo and Dyer was there they were always like a 3-7, 4-6, 5-5 squad but was a team that would sneak up on you and could lay the lumber on you in a heartbeat, but after those two coaches and the years of coaching searching it’s like GC showed up to get the game over. Now is different, and I agree with you it’s more of a football program now. Imo these past couple of years is the most pride I’ve seen invested in this football program

You know we use most of our good guy athletes to try to go out and guard our girls basketball players. Lol. Seriously, Findley has done a great job with our football program. He has done a good job with the players we got. We just don’t have have the number of quality players that other schools have but he gets the most out of the talent he has.

You should have the  players. I think it’s just a matter of getting the kids behind the football team then more will play.

Looking forward to another Region game. Like Swo, I have been happy with our improvement week to week. Even against Fulton County, most of the bad stuff happened in the 3rd quarter. The rest of the game looked pretty good. If we have that behind us I think we win this week. But, I never know enough about how high schoolers will respond to predict a blowout. I am sure GC will come ready to compete and play us hard.

    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
    • That's a fair line. But if it's not over, that's a big problem.
    • RR, you think that changes this year, or at least improves? I know they had a couple of talented young receivers last year that made some plays later in the year. Defensive back was a struggle against any team that was above average at throwing the ball.
    • You would think they got a bunch of interest
    • You would think with football just three months away more would be talking. There's only so much a person can say about someone allowing the field to get painted without asking their boss who would have said ((((((((  ALE NO ))))))))) or all the other BULLS#!T they've done as they lead Maryville High into the new age of WOKE in a conversative town. I'm ready for some football news without hearing something coming out of 825 that Power Munger has done to cap off the week.
